“It’s been decades” — Fans furious at hate comments linking BLACKPINK’s Jennie’s Christmas collab Instagram post to BTS’ Taehyung

On November 29, 2024, BLACKPINK's Jennie posted new pictures on Instagram in collaboration with the South Korean bakery Nudake. However, the posts went viral for a different reason on December 4. Several netizens left hateful comments on the rapper's latest posts as she used the song, It's Looking A Lot Like Christmas, as the background score of her photos.

The 1951 song by the late Bing Crosby was covered by BTS' Kim Taehyung in 2022. Hence, several netizens linked the song with Jennie's new pictures and brought back their dating rumors.

The two K-pop idols have been embroiled in dating scandals for years. However, nothing has been proven or confirmed yet. Meanwhile, fans came to defend the Mantra rapper and wrote on X:

"Gosh tell them to move on. Mentioning jennie every chance they get.. Its been decades."

Fans lashed out at those who left negative comments underneath the BLACKPINK rapper's photos.

"The fact that I had to see her post here on twitter not on insta. And them being updated on jennie's post is giving pretty much obsession," one fan wrote.

"They still didn't move on? Tf! She used the original song how come they connect it to him? That's not even his song. They are the delulu one not J." another fan wrote.

"Don't engage with hate comments leave nice comments and like and reply back to only good comments," one other fan added.

Others were stunned that some people rallied under the post because of a song.

"It’s awe inspiring on how certain kpop fans delude themselves for a long standing period of time. And they’re not ashamed," one fan said.

BLACKPINK’s Jennie and BTS’ Kim Taehyung sparked dating rumors in 2023 following Paris sighting

In 2023, a video captured in Paris reignited rumors surrounding BLACKPINK’s Jennie and BTS’s Kim Taehyung (stage name V), two of K-pop's biggest stars. The video, shared by French photojournalist Amar Taoualit on May 17, 2023, depicted two people allegedly holding hands while strolling along the River Seine.

The clip quickly went viral, garnering millions of views and sparking intense online debates. The alleged Paris sighting occurred during Jennie’s participation in the Cannes Film Festival and Taehyung’s attendance at a 2023 CELINE fashion event.

According to Amar Taoualit, who filmed the encounter, he stumbled upon the duo by chance during a routine photo tour of the city. In an interview, Taoualit claimed he used his phone to discreetly film from a distance after being warned by their security team not to approach too closely.

Amar Taoualit said in a YouTube interview with Saboo Production:

"I started getting messages every 2 seconds. There were some insulting me, ‘Why did you post them?’ There were some who said ‘Finally, the truth came out.’ I didn’t understand the couple because I wasn’t following this at all, for me it was a video of stars."

Dating rumors between Jennie and Taehyung first surfaced in May 2022 when they were reportedly spotted together on Jeju Island. Although fans speculated about their relationship, neither YG Entertainment (BLACKPINK’s agency) nor HYBE (BTS’s agency) issued confirmations.

Additional photos and videos that surfaced later in 2022 further fueled the speculation but were similarly met with silence from the artists and their management.
