On October 22, 2024, BLACKPINK's Jennie gave an exclusive interview to W KOREA, revealing the theme of her latest solo single, Mantra. The K-pop sensation and CHANEL ambassador said that although she prefers songs with a delicate touch, she created Mantra to show her fans her new side. She asserted that the theme of the song is self-love.

"In the past, I mainly presented songs that contained love stories, with delicate and sweet voices and pretty dance performances, but this time, I presented <Mantra> The theme of the song is 'myself'. It's a song that cherishes loving yourself and confidently creating your own charm in your own way, and it contains a message of support for that."

The BLACKPINK idol continued by expressing gratitude to her staff and said:

"I was excited every day during that time as I returned to my main job and prepared songs after a long time. <Mantra> I think I have a special affection for Team OA because I communicate with them about every detail of the production process before it comes out into the world and they carefully complete it."

BLACKPINK's Jennie shares how CHANEL inspires her to be unique and more

The BLACKPINK idol founded her label, ODDATELIER (OA), in December 2023, after she parted ways with YG Entertainment. In September 2024, she signed a global solo partnership with Columbia Records and released her single, Mantra, on October 11 under ODDATELIER and the American record label.

BLACKPINK's Jennie explained why she chose the color red for the W KOREA photoshoot and the concept photos of her song, Mantra. She elaborated that the color evokes and encompasses a wide range of feelings and phrases. She believed that shooting a red idea would be challenging.

However, Jennie added that for the W KOREA pictorial, the "red" aspect and her appearance went hand in hand.

"I don't think there is a single red in the world. I think 'red' is a color that contains and brings to mind so many emotions and words. That's why I thought it would be difficult to shoot a red concept, but in this pictorial, the 'red' point and my look were in perfect harmony, and I think I showed a lot of different looks."

The BLACKPINK idol mentioned that Although she has seen over ten CHANEL presentations so far, the time never worked out for her to attend a cruise show in a new location. Jennie added that she's not sure where the CHANEL Cruise collection for 2025–2026 will be.

However, expressing her enthusiasm, she said that the luxury brand's shows have always inspired her to experience the city's ambiance, wind, and air. The Mantra singer-rapper also shared that she often tries to interpret the "feminine and elegant" look of the CHANEL models, saying:

"Whenever I wear a Chanel look, I try to interpret the feminine and elegant look that the original model wore and expressed in a funky or cool way in my own style, and I think both Chanel and the public look favorably on these attempts."

In other news, BLACKPINK's Jennie became the CHANEL ambassador in December 2017. Fans also dub her the "Human Chanel" for her representation of the luxury brand's ethos of elegance and femininity.
