Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born, starring Kim Tae-ri, Shin Ye-eun, Ra Mi-ran, and more, aired episodes 7 and 8 on November 2 and 3 respectively on tvN. Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born episode 7 picked up from the scene where Yoon Jeong-nyeon (Kim Tae-ri) overshadowed the main characters by improvising a song in the play. However, Seo Hye-rang (Kim Yoon-hye) saved the drama by catching up with her improvisation.
Despite receiving applause from the audience, Yoon Jeong-nyeon was banned from performing on stage as she could not control herself and stole the spotlight of the main characters.
On the other hand, Heo Young-seo's (Shin Ye-eun) mother Han Ki-joo (Jang Hye-jin) finally acknowledged her daughter's acting and singing skills in gukgeuk. However, she informed her of Yoon Jeong-nyeon’s mother Choi Gong-seon (Moon So-ri), and how popular she was. Han Ki-joo praised Yoon Jeong-nyeon’s voice but told Heo Young-seo to beat her and climb the success ladder.
In the recent developments of Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born, Hong Joo-ran (Woo Da-vi) picked Heo Young-seo over Yoon Jeong-nyeon as her partner for the joint performance auditions.
Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born ep 7-8 recap: Yoon Jeong-nyeon sees a nightmare of losing her voice
In Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born episode 7, Heo Young-seo broke the vinyl of Choi Gong-seon's songs and was seen weeping while practicing. Yoon Jeong-nyeon saw the broken vinyl and checked up on Heo Young-seo. Heo Young-seo asked Yoon Jeong-nyeon to teach her how to sing like her.
Yoon Jeong-nyeon did not say anything about it but explained that she was afraid that she would remain as her mother's shadow because whenever someone heard her sing they were reminded of Choi Gong-seon. However, she decided to keep going forward and make her name and that Heo Young-seo should continue moving ahead like her.
Meanwhile, due to a stage accident, Hong Joo-ran ended up hurting her leg, and Yoon Jeong-nyeon filled in for her for the character of Precious. Kang So-bok (Ra Mi-ran) was worried that Yoon Jeong-nyeon would make another mistake but she gave her another chance. She instructed her to highlight Geomigeol's character played by Heo Young-seo.
Later in Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born episode 7, Heo Young-seo made a small mistake onstage but Yoon Jeong-nyeon helped her to fix it with her quick thinking and improvisation. Due to this, Kang So-bok announced Yoon Jeong-nyeon as the official trainee at the Maeran troupe. Heo Young-seo also apologized to Yoon Jeong-nyeon and gave her a new vinyl of Choi Gong-seon's songs.
On the other hand, Ko Dae-il (Ryu Seung-soo) stole the money from the Maeran troupe’s safe with Seo Hye-rang’s help. However, Kang So-bok did not report it to the police to protect the Maeran troupe’s image. However, later, Moon Ok-yeong (Jung Eun-chae) confronted Seo Hye-rang for driving Yoon Jeong-nyeon, Heo Young-seo, and Hong Joo-ran out of the troupe with her actions. She stated that if she ever left gukgeuk it would be because of Seo Hye-rang.
At the end of Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born episode 7, Kang So-bok announced the audition of a joint performance with a popular writer and a new story, where actors from the Maeran troupe and other troupes will come together for a drama.
In episode 8 of Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born, Hong Joo-ran chose Heo Young-seo as her partner. Yoon Jeong-nyeon waited for Hong Joo-ran believing she would partner up with her but she already began practicing with Heo Young-seo. When Yoon Jeong-nyeon asked her the reason behind her choice, Hong Joo-ran said she could not rely on Yoon Jeong-nyeon due to her past mistakes on stage. She stated that Heo Young-seo was calculative of her acting and the entire drama making her more reliable than her. Yoon Jeong-nyeon partnered with Park Cho-rok (Seunghee).
Meanwhile, Seo Hye-rang provoked Yoon Jeong-nyeon saying that her acting and singing skills were lacking behind her and Heo Young-seo was way ahead of her. She advised her to go to the mountains and practice until she coughed up blood, that was the only way to master pansori. Park Cho-rok tried to stop her but Yoon Jeong-nyeon practiced too hard which made her voice hoarse.
Kang So-bok tried to explain to her that if she did not stop she would end up losing her voice. However, Yoon Jeong-nyeon is anguished by Hong Joo-ran, and her best friend rejects her and believes Seo Hye-rang’s words about her skills. Park Cho-rok informed Heo Young-seo that Yoon Jeong-nyeon visited the mountains to practice. Heo Young-seo went to the mountains and tried to stop her but Yoon Jeong-nyeon did not stop there.
Later in Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born episode 8, Yoon Jeong-nyeon had a nightmare where she had lost her voice due to going overboard with her voice. On the audition day, Hong Joo-ran told Heo Young-seo the reason for not choosing Yoon Jeong-nyeon. This was because she had once practiced with Yoon Jeong-nyeon and couldn't think straight during the act. She was confused between the character and Yoon Jeong-nyeon which made her anxious that she would mess up on stage.
Meanwhile, Yoon Jeong-nyeon arrived very late to the audition and Park Cho-rok noticed that she had a fever and her voice appeared to be hoarse. Park Cho-rok told her that she shouldn't have listened to Seo Hye-rang. Moon Ok-yeong heard their conversation and learned that Seo Hye-rang was the one who led Yoon Jeong-nyeon to overwork herself.
By the end of Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born episode 8, Yoon Jeong-nyeon was unable to sing on stage after she completely shot her voice. Han Ki-joo was one of the judges and she stated they should wrap up the auditions as Yoon Jeong-nyeon seemed to have finished her act. Meanwhile, Hong Joo-ran started to cry backstage watching Yoon Jeong-nyeon struggle with her play.
Yoon Jeong-nyeon begged Kang So-bok for another chance and she requested other judges to give her one more chance. Yoon Jeong-nyeon struggled to perform perfectly but surprised everyone during the last verse by singing it properly. She then coughed up blood and passed out.
