Yoon Jeong-nyeon saw a traditional street dancer while returning to her dorm with Hong Joo-ran (Woo Da-vi) and was inspired to bring the role of Bangja to life on stage. Yoon Jeong-nyeon successfully played Bangja's role, surpassing other trainees' expectations and Moon Ok-gyeong's, garnering loud cheers from the crowd.

In recent developments of Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born, Yoon Jeong-nyeon started working as a waitress at a cafe and also happens to sing there. Heo Young-seo (Shin Ye-eun) happened to visit the café and saw Yoon Jeong-nyeon perform there. Notably, earning money by selling one's talent while being a part of the Maeran All-Female Theater Troupe. Yoon Jeong-nyeon was kicked out of the troupe for breaking the rules.

Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born: Yoon Jeong-nyeon follows her dream despite being disowned by Seo Yong-rye

In Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born episode 3, Yoon Jeong-nyeon finds out Hong Joo-ran worked at a café to earn money for her sister's tuberculosis medications. Hong Joo-ran hurt her hand while practicing sword fighting, so Yoon Jeong-nyeon decided to help her by working at the café instead.

The café owner learned from a customer that Yoon Jeong-nyeon was a part of the Maeran All-Female Theater Troupe. As the café owner couldn't find a singer to perform, she asked Yoon Jeong-nyeon to perform at the café. Yoon Jeong-nyeon refused as it would go against the troupe's rules; however, the café owner threatened to fire both her and Hong Joo-ran.

Yoon Jeong-nyeon once captivated the audience with her voice and got an offer from a Television Broadcast producer Park Jong-guk (Kim Tae-hoon), to become a singer. Park Jong-guk gave his business card to Yoon Jeong-nyeon and asked her to contact him if she ever planned to become a TV star.

By the end of Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born episode 3, Seo Yong-rye (Moon So-ri) comes looking for Yoon Jeong-nyeon to take her back to Mokpo and bumps into Kang So-bok (Ra Mi-ran).

In Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born episode 4, Kang So-bok addressed Seo Yong-rye as Gong-seon. This was when Seo Yong-rye's past as Choi Gong-seon, a popular pansori singer, was revealed. Choi Gong-seon and Kang So-bok spent their teenage years together. Seo Yong-rye tried to take Yoon Jeong-nyeon back home, but she refused to go. Kang So-bok decided to protect Yoon Jeong-nyeon and told Seo Yong-rye that she was a part of the troupe and could only leave if she wanted. To which Yoon Jeong-nyeon stated that she does not intend to leave.

Seo Yong-rye tried to stop Yoon Jeong-nyeon from becoming a guk-geuk actress as she seemingly failed as a pansori singer and didn't want her daughter to face the same fate. However, when she heard Yoon Jeong-nyeon sing, Seo Yong-rye saw her younger self in her daughter. As Yoon Jeong-nyeon refused to go back, Seo Yong-rye stated that she would not think of her as her daughter if she continued to chase her dreams. Yoon Jeong-nyeon saw her mother leave as she stood firm to pursue her goals.

Later in Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born episode 4, Heo Young-seo went to a café to spend some time with her sister Heo Young-in, a popular Soprano singer. She saw Yoon Jeong-nyeon perform at the café and left the place immediately. Later at the dorm, Kang So-bok rushed in and kicked out Yoon Jeong-nyeon for breaking the troupe's rules as she believed she used Maeran's name to earn money. Yoon Jeong-nyeon did not reveal the real reason behind her actions and protected Hong Joo-ran.

Yoon Jeong-nyeon had dinner at a local food stall but could not pay as her money was stolen, and she ended up in police detention for not paying for the meal. She tried calling Maeran's office to receive help, but no one picked and besides this, she had no one else to contact in Seoul. She remembered Park Jong-guk’s business card and called him for help.

Later in Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born episode 4, meeting Park Jong-guk, Yoon Jeong-nyeon decided to become a singer and appear on TV as she could not go back to Maeran or her home in Mokpo. Park Jong-guk introduced Yoon Jeong-nyeon to Patricia Kim (Lee Mi-do), who would train her to become a pop singer. Yoon Jeong-nyeon signed a contract with Park Jong-guk but couldn't understand the content of the contract as it had many difficult characters to understand.

Park Jong-guk took Yoon Jeong-nyeon to Heo Young-in's homecoming recital, where she met Maeran All Female Theater Troupe’s people, including Moon Ok-gyeong, Kang So-bok, and Heo Young-seo. Kang So-bok seemed to be disappointed in Yoon Jeong-nyeon and ignored her completely.

Meanwhile, Moon Ok-gyeong supported Yoon Jeong-nyeon, but she also wished she had continued to pursue guk-geuk. On the other hand, Heo Young-seo tried to tell Yoon Jeong-nyeon that it was not her who told Kang So-bok about her café job but didn't complete her sentence. Yoon Jeong-nyeon said that she knew it was not her and that Heo Young-seo would not tattle about someone's secrets so easily.

By the end of Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born episode 4, Yoon Jeong-nyeon was tired of the heels and went in a corner to relax for a while. She accidentally overheard Heo Young-seo’s mother showing her disappointment in her daughter for not pursuing soprano like Heo Young-in and following pansori and guk-geuk. Heo Young-seo realized her mother was embarrassed about her dreams and what others thought about her. She told her mother that all she wanted was her support but her mother dismissed her.

Heo Young-seo saw Yoon Jeong-nyeon and tried to take out her frustration on her. Yoon Jeong-nyeon was too tired to argue, so she apologized and tried leaving but Heo Young-seo slapped her across the face. Yoon Jeong-nyeon slapped her back and told her that she would not take her bad attitude anymore, and after leaving the troupe, she had no reason to.
