JYP continues his philanthropic streak
J.Y. Park, the renowned singer, producer, and founder of JYP Entertainment, has once again demonstrated his commitment to philanthropy. On December 10, 2024, he donated ₩1 billion (approximately USD 700,000) to support medical expenses for underprivileged children and adolescents.
According to Maeil Business Newspaper, dated December 11, this marks the third consecutive year of such contributions, bringing his total donations to an impressive ₩3 billion from 2022 to 2024.
His most recent donation will be distributed among five major regional hospitals in South Korea, including Jeju National University Hospital, Kangneung Asan Medical Center, and Kyungpook National University Hospital. These donations are aimed at supporting the treatment, rehabilitation, and surgeries of children suffering from rare and severe illnesses.
At the donation ceremony held at the JYP headquarters, Park expressed his inspiration behind these generous acts. As a father of two young daughters, he shared how he empathizes with parents facing the emotional and financial struggles of caring for sick children. As per the Maeil Business Newspaper, he said:
"I have two daughters, 5 and 4 years old. I've been interested in children for a long time, but I have two daughters at home and sometimes [they] get sick, so when I go to the hospital, I feel really bad. On top of that, it made me think about the struggles parents might face if it was also financially difficult. This inspired me to donate the treatment fee."
He concluded his statement by saying,
"Please continue to treat children in need well in the future, and I will continue to work hard so that I can donate more."
Beyond his personal contributions, J.Y. Park has cultivated a culture of giving through his company, JYP Entertainment. Initiatives like the "Every Dream Matters!" (EDM) campaign have supported thousands of children globally, addressing both medical and emotional needs.
In 2024 alone, the company donated nearly ₩2.85 billion and ₩12 million (in Japan), positively impacting over 1,700 children worldwide.
Park’s consistent efforts extend beyond donations. His 2024 contributions are part of a broader legacy, including prior donations to hospitals such as Samsung Seoul Hospital and NGOs like World Vision, impacting over 276 children across Korea and other countries like Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
In addition to these initiatives, JYP Entertainment has made strides in corporate social responsibility through projects like charity basketball tournaments and its annual “EDM Day,” which highlights the company’s social contributions.
Furthermore, the company has been recognized globally for its sustainability practices, earning high ratings for its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives and being ranked among the world’s best companies for sustainable growth by TIME magazine for 2025.
J.Y. Park’s philanthropic efforts are an example of how he leverages his success to make meaningful contributions to society.
