On Thursday, October 31, 2024, G-DRAGON released his comeback single, POWER, after seven years. The track's official music video was dropped on YouTube at 6 PM (KST) and was released under his Korean agency, Galaxy Corporation, and independent record label EMPIRE.
Within an hour of the song's global release, POWER ranked at No. 2 on the MelOn chart, following the No. 1 track APT. by BLACKPINK's Rosé and Bruno Mars. As per Kpop Charts, G-DRAGON's comeback single also topped the Korean music chart Bugs.
Meanwhile, astute fans noted that the MV of POWER may have disclosed the tracklists of the idol's forthcoming solo album. On the top board of a subway train, titles like HOME SWEET HOME and I BELONG TO YOU were displayed instead of destinations. The speculated tracklist also included titles like TAKE ME, POWER, TOO BAD, 보니아나, DRAMA, and GYORO-DROP.
Fans were thrilled over G-DRAGON's return to the music industry and flooded social media. One fan highlighted his return and wrote on X:
"Oh, he's about to debut with a RAK i'm afraid! Let's go break records again King!"
Fans compared his return to the music scene with Western musician Rihanna, who is reported to release her album after an 8-year-long hiatus.
"For people who are not into kpop this is like rihanna making her comeback to music," a fan wrote.
"7 years. I can't believe I'm listening to new kwon jiyong music after 7 years. finally, the king is back," another fan wrote.

Born Kwon Ji-yong, known as G-DRAGON is a South Korean singer, rapper, songwriter, producer, and fashion icon. His journey to global fame began with his band, BIGBANG, which debuted in 2006 under YG Entertainment.
