Love Next Door starring Jung Hae-in, Jung So-min, Kim Ji-eun, Yoon Ji-on, and more aired its final episodes 15 and 16 on October 5 and 6 respectively on tvN and Netflix. Episode 15 of Love Next Door started with Bae Seok-ryu and Choi Seung-hyo's secret relationship getting busted by their parents.
Due to the ongoing conflict between Na Mi-sook (Bae Seok-ryu’s mother played by Jang Young-nam) and Seo Hye-suk (Choi Seung-hyo's mother depicted by Jang Young-nam), the two were immediately separated against their will.
Na Mi-sook was worried that Bae Seok-ryu's past hardships like broken engagement and cancer would become a reason why she would not be treated well by her in-laws. Meanwhile, Seo Hye-suk was also worried that Bae Seok-ryu's cancer would relapse. Na Mi-sook and Seo Hye-suk’s friends tried to make them sort out their issues and reconcile, however, it took a wrong turn as they ended up getting into a serious fight again.

Despite all the hurdles, in Love Next Door episode 15, Bae Seok-ryu and Choi Seung-hyo received approval from their parents. Their mothers Na Mi-sook and Seo Hye-suk who had been friends for over 40 years also reconciled.
Love Next Door ending explained: Choi Seung-hyo designs Bae Seok-ryu's restaurant as they wait for their wedding
In Episode 15 of Love Next Door, Na Mi-sook and Seo Hye-suk fought with other ladies in their neighborhood who were backbiting the former. They ended up in the police station and Choi Gyeong-jong (Choi Seung-hyo’s father played by Lee Seung-joon) and Bae Geun-sik (Bae Seok-ryu’s father played by Jo Han-chul) rushed together to the station. Bae Seok-ryu and Choi Seung-hyo also joined them.
After the settlement with the neighborhood ladies, Na Mi-sook and Seo Hye-suk naturally started reminiscing over their high school days. Choi Seung-hyo asked if they made up and it seemed like they did. The two friends went to Na Mi-sook’s rooftop and cleared their misunderstanding. Seo Hye-suk stated that she would take care of Bae Seok-ryu just like Na Mi-sook raised Choi Seung-hyo when she was away for work.
On the other hand, Jeong Mo-eum (Kim Ji-eun) and Kang Dan-oh (Yoon Ji-on) were also informed about their relationship with Yeon-du (Shim Ji-yoo). Jeong Mo-eum asked Yeon-du if she could be her mother. She was happy to learn about Jeong Mo-eum, her favorite person dating her father.
In Love Next Door episode 16, Jeong Mo-eum was assigned to the South Pole station as a safety officer for a year's tenure, which was her dream. However, she was reluctant about telling this to Kang Dan-oh as they only started dating each other recently. One day, Kang Dan-oh on the other hand learned about her promotion from her colleagues when he went to pick her up.
Later, when Jeong Mo-eum gifted him a family T-shirt, Yeon-du, and her mother, Kang Dan-oh gifted her warm clothes and congratulated her on her promotion. Kang Dan-oh and Yeon-du showed their support to Jeong Mo-eum and said that they would wait for her.
Meanwhile, Choi Seung-hyo and Bae Seok-ryu go on a stroll in their neighborhood and see a new restaurant in construction where Bae Geun-sik's tteokbeoki restaurant used to be.
Choi Seung-hyo suggested they check it out and out of curiosity they go inside. Bae Seok-ryu was amazed by the design of the kitchen and that's when he told her it was her restaurant. Bae Geun-sik asked Choi Seung-hyo to take charge of renovating the restaurant as he would like to pass it down to Bae Seok-ryu.
Love Next Door season 2 renewal possibilities
Later in the final episode of Love Next Door, Bae Seok-ryu and Choi Seung-hyo go for a wedding dress trial where the former asks the latter if they should postpone their wedding for a year as she wants to do a lot of things like setting up her restaurant before her marriage. Hearing her reasons, Choi Seung-hyo agreed as he believed those were valid. Bae Seok-ryu developed an app as she previously worked as a product manager.
After 10 months, Bae Seok-ryu's restaurant started serving healthy food for people with illnesses and also got a feature in a daily newspaper. Meanwhile, Choi Seung-hyo's designed Greip flagship store opening was around the corner. He also worked on the design of his and Bae Seok-ryu’s house.
Meanwhile, Jeong Mo-eum video called Kang Dan-oh and Yeon-du, where he told her that he would visit her soon for an official assignment to write a feature about his experience at the South Pole. The drama ended with Bae Seok-ryu and Choi Seung-hyo bickering as usual as they were on their way to meet the contractor to discuss their house after their wedding.
Nothing regarding Jeong Mo-eum and Kang Dan-oh’s meeting at the South Pole was showcased. The highly awaited wedding sequence was not shown in the final episode.
With Love Next Door coming to an end, the possibilities of a second season appeared to be low as all the characters were progressing in their journeys at their own pace. However, tvN or Netflix is yet to make an official statement regarding the renewal possibilities of Love Next Door season 2.
