Love Next Door, starring Jung Hae-in, Jung So-min, and Kim Ji-eun, aired episode 3 on Netflix on August 24. The show follows Choi Seung-hyo (Jung Hae-in) and Bae Seok-ryu (Jung So-min), who spent most of their childhood together as their mothers were best friends.
Bae Seok-ryu, a project manager at a well-known company in the US, quit her job and returned to South Korea. Meanwhile, Choi Seung-hyo is a renowned architect known for designing popular places in the country. Bae Seok-ryu and Choi Seung-hyo's love story begins as they reunite after years of staying apart.
In episode 3 of Love Next Door, during their high school days, Jeong Mo-eum (Kim Ji-eun), Choi Seung-hyo, and Bae Seok-ryu wrote letters to their future selves. They buried the letter in the time capsule behind their school.

Love Next Door ep 3: Jung Hae-in falls for Jung So-min first but she does not know
Love Next Door ep 3 began in 2007 when Choi Seung-hyo was competing in the Seoul National Swimming Championship. However, both of his parents could not be there due to their packed schedules. On the other hand, Bae Seok-ryu supported him in the audience with the loudest cheer, and Choi Seung-hyo won the competition and made it to the national team.
In the present, Bae Seok-ryu bumped into her high school teacher, Ms. Yu, who was now working as the principal at her parents' restaurant. Ms. Yu had ordered in large numbers, so Bae Seok-ryu helped her deliver it to the school. They met Choi Seung-hyo there, as he was applying to redesign the school's gym.
Ms. Yu believed that Bae Seok-ryu still works at Greip and asked her to hold a surprise alumni session for the students. Choi Seung-hyo did not say a word and left early. At Ms. Yu's request, Bae Seok-ryu held the session. That's when she realized that although she may have had good grades, went to a prestigious university, and worked at a renowned company, she did not have her dream.
This was followed by Choi Seung-hyo and Bae Seok-ryu digging in the school's backyard to find the time capsule they buried when they were students. Bae Seok-ryu asked Choi Seung-hyo why he hadn't told Ms. Yu that she had quit her job at Greip. To which he replied that her experience at the company was enough to share with the students. However, they could not find the capsule.
In the next half of Love Next Door episode 3, Choi Seung-hyo met Bae Seok-ryu on her way to the office. She had just received two job opportunities in South Korea. Bae Seok-ryu stated that the position was similar to her previous job and that the pay was decent. Choi Seung-hyo asked her if she wanted the same job again, as she quit being a project manager because she was exhausted.
They got into an argument where Choi Seung-hyo wanted her to follow her dreams but Bae Seok-ryu pointed out that following dreams, is for the privileged. In the heat of the moment, Bae Seok-ryu said something that hurt Choi Seung-hyo. However, what she was trying to say was not to hurt him but only to explain her situation.
Love Next Door ep 3 revealed that after Choi Seung-hyo's selection in 2007, he got into an accident that forced him to quit swimming and become an architect. Meanwhile, Bae Seok-ryu went back to the school at night to look for the capsule. She also told Ms. Yu the truth about her job.
Ms. Yu stated that it was alright and that she should follow the decision that was right for her. She also told her that Choi Seung-hyo was at the swimming area and that Bae Seok-ryu should go to him. As soon as Bae Seok-ryu reached the swimming area, she saw Choi Seung-hyo reading the letter she had put in the capsule.
Bae Seok-ryu did not want him to read her letter. Choi Seung-hyo jumped in the pool to get away from her, and Bae Seok-ryu was about to apologize for her words. He reminded her that she was the one who looked after him after his accident. And now that she had lost her spark, Bae Seok-ryu could not take it and jumped after him.
After managing to float, Bae Seok-ryu asked Choi Seung-hyo if, he had a chance to go back to swimming, would he go again, to which he replied no. He also asked her if she had to go back in time when she got into Greip would she go again, to which she said no.
Choi Seung-hyo mustered up his courage and asked another question if she had to go back in time before she called off her engagement, would she go again, to which Bae Seok-ryu answered with a no.
In the epilogue of Love Next Door episode 3, it was revealed that Choi Seung-hyo had a crush on Bae Seok-ryu in high school. In his letter, he asked a question to his future self, which was whether he confessed his feelings for Bae Seok-ryu or not. It is yet to be seen what happens next on Love Next Door.
