In Love Next Door episode 4, Bae Seok-ryu was about to go to the library to find her dream, but she bumped into Choi Seung-hyo. She followed him to his office, Atelier In, for free coffee. There, Choi Seung-hyo’s Co-CEO, Yoon Myeong-woo, revealed they received an offer to design Greip's new office in Seoul. As an ex-worker at Greip, Bae Seok-ryu was a bit shocked to hear this.
Yoon Myeong-woo and Choi Seung-hyo read the email; however, they were not as proficient in English, so Yoon Myeong-woo asked Bae Seok-ryu to help them out as a part-time interpreter. Choi Seung-hyo knew some English and said he would take an English class as he did not support this idea.
Bae Seok-ryu was also hesitant, but she decided to do it anyway. When Choi Seung-hyo asked her why she had decided to work with them, she said it was because of him.
Episode 4 of Love Next Door showcased the second meeting of Jeong Mo-eum and Kang Dan-oh at the convenience store. Jeong Mo-eum and Kang Dan-oh picked the same can of juice, and they recognized each other.
Jeong Mo-eum thanked him for the rice cakes he sent to her workplace and asked her how he knew about them. Kang Dan-oh stated that he used his sources. However, the two were not ready to let go of the can as they both liked it.
At the same time, Choi Seung-hyo and Bae Seok-ryu arrived. Choi Seung-hyo recognized reporter Kang Dan-oh as he had previously interviewed him. All four sat together, and Kang Dan-oh noted that he had seen Bae Seok-ryu before. He stated he might have misunderstood her for someone else as Bae Seok-ryu had not been in South Korea for over a decade.
As Kang Dan-oh left for another appointment, the three friends returned to their houses. On the way, they discussed the letters and Jeong Mo-eum stated that she read their letters that very day. Choi Seung-hyo was worried Jeong Mo-eum might remember his crush on Bae Seok-ryu but she said she did not remember what he had written in the letter.
In the next part of Love Next Door episode 4, after the first online meeting with Greip, Bae Seok-ryu happens to hear the rest of the conversation of the Greip workers. Bae Seok-ryu found out that the project had been officially given to someone, and they were conducting the meeting because Atelier In was recommended.
Bae Seok-ryu warned Choi Seung-hyo about this and asked him to stop working on it immediately and inform Yoon Myeong-woo. However, Choi Seung-hyo told her to pretend she did not hear it. They got into another argument when Bae Seok-ryu told him that he was working hard for nothing, as she knew Greip very well.
Choi Seung-hyo told her that she should not look down on his hard work, and that was unofficial news anyway, so he would do everything he could till the end. Bae Seok-ryu said she would no longer work on this and left the office.
The next day, Bae Seok-ryu joined them for their first in-person meeting with Greip and saw her ex-colleagues although she said she would not work with them anymore. She was reminded of the hard times she went through during her time there as she was treated as a pushover, and people looked down on her.
During the meeting, Bae Seok-ryu was nervous and went to the washroom. She met Chris, one of his co-colleagues outside, who provoked her by reminding her of a past that she did not want to talk about.
She also stated she knew about their plan to assign the project to another company. Chris tried to manipulate her again, but Choi Seung-hyo saw it. Choi Seung-hyo held Chris by his collar, hearing what he said.
Chris stated that he would report about Choi Seung-hyo's violence to the headquarters. Bae Seok-ryu was worried things might get worse for Choi Seung-hyo’s company and asked Chris to deal with her and that she would quit being Atelier In's English interpreter.
Chris did not stop there and asked her to work on her English and say please if she wanted someone to help her. Bae Seok-ryu tried her best to hold back but punched him in the face. She also kicked him in the feet for all the harassment she went through.
Later, Choi Seung-hyo discovered that Greip had assigned them another project because the lead designer liked their proposal. Hearing this, Bae Seok-ryu ended up hugging Choi Seung-hyo. Furthermore, Chris was also going to be fired as Yoon Myeong-woo reported his behavior to the Vice President of Greip, who was luckily his mutual friend on social media.
Love Next Door episode 4 revealed that Bae Seok-ryu skipped her mock exams to watch Choi Seung-hyo's swimming competition in 2007. She was supposed to get a new phone from her mother if she came first during exams, but she was fine with Choi Seung-hyo’s win, and for her, it was just mock exams. After the match, he gave her his gold medal, and this moment was captured by Kang Dan-oh.
The end of Love Next Door episode 4 showed a glimpse of Choi Seung-hyo’s backpack trip to the US in the past. He brought some stuff from South Korea for Bae Seok-ryu, including her favorite comic book series.
Bae Seok-ryu hugged Choi Seung-hyo, saying that he was the only one who thought about her, raising his heartbeat. It seemed like Bae Seok-ryu was about to kiss Choi Seung-hyo, but she passed out because she had too many drinks. It is yet to be seen what happens next on Love Next Door.
