Love Next Door ep 5-6 recap: Jung Hae-in avoids Jung So-min after she reads his letter
In episode 5 of Love Next Door, Choi Seung-hyo overheard Jeong Mo-eum and Bae Seok-ryu's conversation, where Seok-ryu said that she still likes her ex-fiancé. The next day, Bae Seok-ryu wrapped up her last day at Atelier In. However, an unexpected person arrived at the office.
Choi Seung-hyo's ex-girlfriend Jang Tae-hui (Seo Ji-hye) returned to his life and offered him to join a new project with her. Choi Seung-hyo was hesitant, but Yoon Myeong-woo accepted. Jang Tae-hui invited Atelier In workers for a workshop. Bae Seok-ryu happened to be at the office, so she was also invited. However, Bae Seok-ryu declined.
Due to a minor accident at home, Choi Seung-hyo sprained his toe, and Bae Seok-ryu had to drive him to Jang Tae-hui's workshop. Bae Seok-ryu believed that Choi Seung-hyo and Jang Tae-hui had something between them. She told Choi Seung-hyo she supported them and wished they could get back together.
Choi Seung-hyo was extremely angry hearing this and asked her not to meddle in his personal life. He also got mad at her when she broke a huge earthenware, spilling a huge amount of Korean spicy paste. He was more worried that she hurt herself. He left the place to get something fresh; meanwhile, Bae Seok-ryu made some Kal-guksu for everyone.
Choi Seung-hyo did not return for dinner, but Jang Tae-hui found him outside. Although Jang Tae-hui still liked Choi Seung-hyo, she noticed a new side of him when he was with Bae Seok-ryu. She told him about how he got angry at her and embarrassed her in the afternoon, and she had never seen him act this way.
In the next half of Love Next Door episode 5, it was revealed that Kang Yeon-du was Kang Dan-oh's daughter. Kang Yeon-du called 119 for help as she was ill and all alone at home. Jeong Mo-eum was the paramedic officer who reached Kang Dan-oh's house to check up on Kang Yeon-du, and she took her to the hospital.
When Kang Dan-oh arrived at the hospital, Jeong Mo-eum lashed out at him for leaving Yeon-du home alone when she was sick. She also told him that she had previously seen her alone in the park. When Yeon-du was being transferred to another room at the hospital, she told Jeong Mo-eum not to scold her father and that she did not want to see her again.
Love Next Door episode 5 ended with Bae Seok-ryu figuring out her dream of cooking as she was the happiest when she cooked. It was also revealed that Choi Seung-Hyo's feelings for Bae Seok-Ryu have rekindled.
In Love Next Door episode 6, Bae Seok-ryu went to Choi Seung-hyo to deliver her mother's side dishes to his family. She went to his room and looked for the time capsule letter. As she read it, she found out that Choi Seung-hyo had a crush on her during high school.
In his defense, Choi Seung-hyo said he wanted to prank her, and it was a joke. He crumpled the paper and threw it in the trash can. Bae Seok-ryu also stated that she only wanted to read his letter because he had already read her, and she was just curious about it.
The next time Bae Seok-ryu and Choi Seung-hyo met outside his office, they were with Jang Tae-hui because of the new project. Choi Seung-hyo avoided Bae Seok-ryu because he did not want to show her his feelings. On the other hand, Bae Seok-ryu signed up for cooking classes without telling her parents. She met Jeong Mo-eum and told her about her new journey. Jeong Mo-eum called Choi Seung-hyo and suggested that the trio should celebrate, but Choi Seung-hyo declined, saying he was busy.
Con artists were blackmailing Bae Seok-ryu's father, and Choi Seung-hyo caught them before Bae Seok-ryu. As she thanked Choi Seung-hyo for this, he said her father was no stranger to him. Bae Seok-ryu then asked him if she was a stranger to him as he was avoiding her.
Choi Seung-hyo told her that they had grown up and each had their separate lives. He stated that she should respect his privacy. By the end of Love Next Door episode 6, Bae Seok-ryu made the first Korean food Choi Seung-hyo had as a kid when he came from France.
She waited outside his office and gave it to him as it was her first dish in the cooking class. Choi Seung-hyo started another argument asking her to stop poking her nose in his life as those memories were meaningless to him. Bae Seok-ryu refused as they shared a long history of being friends. Hearing this, Choi Seung-hyo said he was going crazy because of her. He left the place out of frustration.
Bae Seok-ryu realized that she knew all the things he experienced for the "first" time in his life except for his first love. Bae Seok-ryu followed him and asked him what he said back there.
It is yet to be seen what happens next on Love Next Door.
