Love Next Door, starring Jung So-min, Jung Hae-in, Kim Ji-eun, Yoon Ji-on, and more, aired episodes 7 and 8 on September 7 and 8 on tvN and Netflix. Episode 7 of Love Next Door picked up from the last scene of the previous episode, where Choi Seung-hyo (Jung Hae-in) and Bae Seok-ryu (Jung So-min) were in the middle of an argument. That's when Bae Seok-ryu’s ex-fiancé Song Hyeon-jun (Han Joon-woo) arrived.
Song Hyeon-jun's arrival surprised the two as he stated that he came from the US to meet Bae Seok-ryu. Bae Seok-ryu’s parents invited him to their home as her mother, Na Mi-sook (Park Ji-young), did not want to create a scene in the neighborhood.
Later, Bae Ryu's parents sat them down and asked the real reason behind the breakup. Her mother got angry and started to beat Song Hyeon-jun because he did not reveal why they called off their wedding. Bae Seok-ryu saved Song Hyeon-jun from Na Mi-sook and told him that it was over between them.

Na Mi-sook hoped that Song Hyeon-jun and Bae Seok-ryu might mend their relationship as she wanted her daughter to go back to the US. Meanwhile, in the recent developments of Love Next Door, Choi Seung-hyo confessed his feelings to Bae Seok-ryu after waiting a long time.
Love Next Door ep 7-8 recap: Choi Seung-hyo waits for an answer while Bae Seok-Ryu's secret is revealed
In episode 7 of Love Next Door, Na Mi-sook tried to set up Song Hyeon-jun with Bae Seok-ryu, while her father, Bae Geun-sik (Jo Han-chul), who was against it, had no idea about it. On the other hand, Kang Dan-oh’s (Yoon Ji-on) daughter, Kang Yeon-du (Shim Ji-yoo), falls head over heels for Jeong Mo-eum (Kim Ji-eun), watching her save a man as a paramedic officer.
After Jeong Mo-eum’s day at work, Kang Dan-oh offered her a ride home. Jeong Mo-eum discussed her ideal type with Kang Dan-oh. She said she could not see his face, but he wore a mudflat t-shirt. Kang Dan-oh was caught off guard as he hit the brake. Jeong Mo-eum discovered that her ideal type, whose face she could not see, was Kang Dan-oh, as he wore the same t-shirt.
Later, Choi Seung-hyo was ready to answer Bae Seok-ryu's question that she had asked previously. However, Bae Seok-ryu asked for more time to respond, explaining that she had a lot on her mind, and informed him that she would not meet Song Hyeon-jun again.
The next day, Song Hyeon-jun and Bae Seok-ryu went to have a meal for the last time and bumped into Choi Seung-hyo and Jang Tae-hui (Seo Ji-hye), who were there for a business meeting. Choi Seung-hyo was not happy that Bae Seok-ryu lied to him and also seemed uncomfortable watching them together.
By the end of episode 7 of Love Next Door, Choi Seung-hyo confessed his love for Bae Seok-ryu. He realized that he had spent way too much time and lost too many chances to ask her out, so this time, he did not wait any longer.
In episode 8 of Love Next Door, Bae Seok-ryu realized that maybe she liked Choi Seung-hyo first when they were kids. Although the feeling faded with time, she still remembers it vividly. The next day, Choi Seung-hyo asked Bae Seok-ryu to take her time before replying to his confession. Bae Seok-ryu asked if the answer had an “expiry date” and how much time she could take.
They went to a convenience store to pick a product with an expiry date. Bae Seok-ryu left the place first, and Choi Seung-hyo took his chance to pick packed milk that would expire in 11 days. On the other hand, Na Mi-sook met Song Hyeon-jun, who wanted to get back with Bae Seok-ryu. Bae Geun-sik happened to see them at a cafe.
As Na Mi-sook returned home, Bae Geun-sik lashed at her, saying that he did not want Song Hyeon-jun near his daughter and that he knew Na Mi-sook wanted Bae Seok-ryu to go back to the US. Na Mi-sook explained that she only wanted her daughter to have the life she did not have due to their financial conditions.
In the second half of Love Next Door episode 8, Na Mi-sook and Bae Geun-sik find out Bae Seok-ryu is taking a cooking class. They express their disappointment in her and feel that she has wasted the education she received.
Bae Seok-ryu stated that she finally found a dream and wanted to pursue it. She felt that her parents were biased towards her brother Bae Dong-jin (Lee Seung-hyub), who failed at everything despite being given chances. Bae Seok-ryu said that she lived her life working hard not to disappoint her parents.
Choi Seung-hyo offered his office kitchen for Bae Seok-ryu to practice cooking after working hours since her parents found out and she could not practice at her dad's restaurant. The next day, Song Hyeon-jun waited for Bae Seok-ryu outside her cooking class. He also tagged along with her at Choi Seung-hyo's office with an excuse to get a consultation from an architect, Choi Seung-hyo.
By the end of Love Next Door episode 8, Bae Seok-ryu practiced making meatball soup and asked Choi Seung-hyo and Song Hyeon-jun to take the tasting test. She suddenly had a pain in her stomach, and watching her suffer, Choi Seung-hyo suggested taking her to the hospital. However, Bae Seok-ryu asked Song Hyeon-jun to help her.
At the hospital, it was revealed that Bae Seok-ryu had stage two stomach cancer three years back and got 70 percent of her stomach removed. She also went through chemotherapy, and only Song Hyeon-jun knew about this.
Meanwhile, Choi Seung-hyo was left alone in his office. Viewers have yet to see what happens next on Love Next Door.
