On December 3, 2024, BTS' Jungkook's I AM STILL: THE ORIGINAL was dropped on Disney+ in a three-part series consisting of an additional 55 minutes long unseen content. Episode 1 showcased the Grammy-nominated artist working on the song and on his vocals to record his debut solo album, Golden.

He was spotted having a lengthy conversation with Seven co-writer Andrew Wyatt, who revealed that seeing Jungkook perform live strengthened his conviction in the K-pop star's potential to succeed in the international music scene. Andrew Wyatt stated that Jungkook was here to stay and said:

"You know, there's been many groups over the years that, um, have birthed incredible solo careers. People out of groups have tried to make a big solo career, and it doesn't always work. And, um, hearing him on his own on this song, it's, like, pretty clear how massive of a run this guy is about to go on."

BTS’ Jungkook dominates charts, awards, and box office as a solo artist

Jeon Jungkook, a member of the South Korean supergroup BTS, solidified his position as one of the most successful solo artists of 2023 and 2024. From record-breaking achievements in music and streaming to accolades for his documentary, the young star's accomplishments reflect his immense popularity and success.

In December 2023, he was officially recognized by Guinness World Records for an array of historic achievements. He became the first Korean artist to have three consecutive solo singles—Seven, 3D, and Standing Next to You—reach No. 1 on the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry's (IFPI) Global Singles Chart.

He also became the fastest K-pop soloist to hit 1 billion streams on Spotify with Seven, which he achieved in just 108 days. By December 2024, his streaming record extended to over 1.2 billion streams, earning him a total of four Guinness titles, including the fastest K-pop solo artist to achieve these feats.

As a soloist, Jungkook swept major music awards in 2023 and 2024. At the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) 2023, he won Song of the Year for Seven.

He also took home Best Male Solo Artist at the 2024 Melon Music Awards, and his album Golden was recognized as one of the top-selling solo albums of the year. He received Best Pop Vocal Performance at the Korean Music Awards for his impressive live renditions of his hit tracks.

Among the biggest laurels, he won the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) for Seven in the Song of Summer category. He bagged Best Song and Best K-pop at the 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) and won the Top Global K-pop Song at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs).

His documentary, I AM STILL: THE ORIGINAL, which chronicles his personal and artistic journey, became the highest-grossing K-pop cinema event in South Korea. Released in 2024, the film earned a staggering $223,387 during its opening weekend, breaking box office records for similar projects.

In other news, BTS' Jungkook has been currently serving in the South Korean military since December 2023. He will be discharged after completing 18 months in the force and will return with his bandmates Namjoon, Jimin, Suga, and Taehyung in June 2025.
