My Sweet Mobster starring Uhm Tae-goo, Han Sun-hwa, and Kwon Yul aired episodes 15 and 16 on July 31 and August 1, 2024, respectively. The JTBC K-Drama is a romantic action including several heartfelt and hilarious moments along with some action.
It is a classic Korean drama where the hero accidentally meets the heroine—a damsel in distress. They fall in love with one another after the girl keeps getting into trouble and the guy has to come to her rescue.
In the last two finale episodes, Seo Ji-hwan (Uhm Tae-goo) is beaten by his father's goons and falls into a coma after being stabbed. His father, Seo Tae-pyeong, runs the dangerous Bulldog Gang. Despite this, the drama ends happily with Ji-hwan freed from his mafia father, leading a peaceful life and marrying Go Eun-ha (Han Sun-hwa). There is no hope for a season renewal as Ji-hwan and Eun-ha get their happy ending.

My Sweet Mobster is a monotonous attempt to recreate stereotypical a K-Drama despite having good actors
After his 2019 hit Korean movie, My Punch-Drunk Boxer, opposite Lee Hye-ri, Uhm Tae-goo released a few other K-Dramas that left without making any memorable impression on the audience.
Despite being one of the good actors in the industry, the 40-year-old found acclamation after his 2024 K-Drama, My Sweet Mobster, earned decent viewership in Korea. Several scenes from the drama went viral online due to the scene's comedy level which helped in boosting its viewership.
Despite having the potential to be a good watch, My Sweet Mobster lacked in its messaging. The female lead is portrayed as fragile and incapable of doing anything on her own and would require the guy to be her crutch and her backbone.
The concept felt extremely outdated especially when we have seen strong female characters in dramas and films such as My Name, Kill Boksoon, The Childe, Moving, Ballerina, Under The Queen's Umbrella, and more. The Korean industry has been evolving and concepts such as My Sweet Mobster sticks out like a sore thumb with the female lead always whining and crying every 10 minutes.
My Sweet Mobster seems like a bust in an era when the industry is also producing shows like Tomorrow, which tackles societal pressure and s*icide, The Whirlwind, which shows the unvarnished world of politics and human greed, and even Twinkling Watermelon, which has a compelling story with a touch of fantasy.
Even in the romance genre, Queen of Tears and Lovely Runner have taken the crowns in 2024 with record-breaking viewership, global acknowledgment, and more. Meanwhile, My Sweet Mobster ends on a happy note with Seo Ji-hwan (Uhm Tae-goo) asking Go Eun-ha (Han Sun-hwa) to marry him.
My Sweet Mobster is a one time watch. All 16 episodes of the show are available on Viki.
