According to the official Netflix website, Culinary Class Wars has officially begun recruiting for season 2 after a globally hit first season. Similar to season 1, season 2 is also open and expects participants from all backgrounds, irrespective of nationality or where one resides.

Culinary Class Wars is a cooking reality show that puts 100 talented chefs competing in a fierce culinary battle. Season 1 saw a unique concept wherein top, renowned chefs known as 'White Spoons' competed with newcomers known as 'Black Spoons'.


Where to apply for Culinary Class Wars season 2

The official Netflix site has attached a link to register for Culinary Class Wars season 2. The site states that an individual is only required to have confidence in their cooking skills; the rest, including nationality, region, language, etc., do not form part of the recruitment criteria.

The judges of the first season, namely, Paik Jong-won and Ahn Sung-jae, shared their expectations for the upcoming season. In a press release, Paik reaffirmed the recruitment criteria to be solely based on cooking skills and not concerned with technicalities such as age or experience.

"I'm looking forward to discovering contestants whom even I wouldn't have expected. Age and expereince don't matter - if you have the confidence to cook something delicious, the go for it. All that matters is that it tastes good."

Ahn reiterated Paik's sentiments and added:

"I hope we can uncover hidden culinary talents, like unearthing a diamond in the rough."

Kwon Seong-joon emerged as the winner of the first season of the show. The final round took place between chef Edward Lee and him. They both had to make dishes of their choice within 80 minutes. The final two dishes of the show were a reflection of the chefs as two individuals.


Culinary Class Wars gave life to more K-cooking shows

The show registered history as the first unscripted Korean show on Netflix to top the global Netflix Non-English Series list for three consecutive weeks. The global popularity of Culinary Class Wars showcased the dominance of Korean cuisine and reignited a craze for cooking survival shows.

Please Take Care of My Refrigerator, a Korean cooking show that aired from 2014-2019 is set to return in December 2024, following a massive uptick in the popularity of K-cooking shows worldwide. Please Take Care of My Refrigerator would feature the runner-up of Culinary Class Wars Edward Lee and Choi Kang-rok.

This 2014 series is getting a revival ten years later, in 2024. It also boasts a unique and engaging format that brings two talented chefs to compete with each other. The twist is that they are to make delicious meals in a limited amount of time and by using ingredients available in the refrigerator of the guests on the show. The show successfully aired for five years.
