BTS member Kim Taehyung, also known as V, achieved yet another milestone with the release of his rendition of Bing Crosby’s holiday classic White Christmas. The song, a posthumous duet with the late crooner, quickly soared to the top of the Worldwide and European iTunes charts, securing the #1 spot in 50 countries just hours after its release on December 6, 2024.
The project was made possible through Primary Wave Music and the Bing Crosby Estate. They approached Taehyung after noting his admiration for Crosby’s music, a sentiment he has expressed in past interviews and social media posts.
Following its release, the duet received overwhelming support from fans worldwide, particularly the BTS ARMY. It dominated iTunes charts in the United States, United Kingdom, France, and Australia, among other major markets. Social media platforms buzzed with praise for the song's nostalgic yet fresh appeal as fans celebrated Taehyung's vocal performance and Crosby’s enduring legacy.
One fan hailed him as the "new jazz sensation" and wrote:

BTS' Taehyung and Bing Crosby's White Christmas is a tribute to timeless music
Mary Crosby, Bing Crosby’s daughter, commented on the duet, recalling how Primary Wave and Bing Crosby Estate reached out to HYBE and proposed the idea of a duet with Taehyung.
Marry Crosby added:
"The fact that V was such a huge fan was so heartening to us. Until he came along, there wasn’t the right person. Because of V, Dad is going to be reaching an entirely different audience."
Meanwhile, his first solo album, Layover, released in 2023, marked a significant moment in his career. Additionally, exclusive holiday-themed merchandise, including picture discs and snowflake-themed vinyl, was made available for pre-order to complement the duet.
White Christmas was initially recorded by Bing Crosby in 1942 and remains the best-selling single ever. This new rendition honors the original while showcasing V's interpretation. The collaboration comes 47 years after Crosby’s iconic duet with David Bowie.
In other news, BTS' V has been serving in the military since December 2023 and is expected to return to the entertainment industry in June 2025.
