The giant streaming platform Netflix dropped all seven episodes of Squid Game 2 on December 26, 2024. Subsequently, international and domestic viewers binge-watch the series in no time as they have been waiting for the show for over 2 years.
The second installment showcased the leading protagonist, Seong Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae), trying to safeguard the lives of players who had participated in Squid Game. However, despite his multiple warnings and concerned statements, the individuals decided to continue the game.
The show is helmed by the director and television producer Hwang Dong-hyuk. He is famous for many shows, including Our Sad Life, Miracle Mile, Silenced, Miss Granny, The Collectors, and more.

1) Thanos (BIGBANG's T.O.P)
The former BIGBANG member T.O.P chronicled the character of antagonist Thanos. Despite his strong and witty personality, he was killed by Lee Myung-gi (played by Im Siwan). He met his unexpected demise in episode 6. During the confrontation between groups O and X, Myung-gi pulled out a fork and stabbed Thanos's neck.
2) Se Mi (Won Ji-an)
The South Korean actress Won Ji-an took the role of Se-mi in Squid Game 2. Se-mi met her unexpected demise in episode 7. When the lights went out, Nam-gyu decided to kill her for voting in favor of discontinuing the game. Even though Min-su tried to safeguard Se-mi by throwing a glass bottle toward Nam Gyu's head, it missed him. Unfortunately, Se-mi was killed in the process.
3) The Salesman (Gong Yoo)
When the Salesman (played by Gong Yoo) and Gi-hun finally confronted each other, the former tried to play a game with his Russian roulette. Subsequently, the Salesman loaded one round into the gun and circled it before him and player 456 one by one. However, Gi-hun survived all the rounds, and the Salesman eventually killed himself with his Russian roulette. He died in episode 1.
4) Player 196 (Song Ji-woo)
The South Korean actress Song Ji-woo played player 196 in Squid Game 2. With her witty and cheerful personality, she took Gi-hun's constant warnings as a joke. During the Red Light and Green Light, Thanos tells her there's a bee on her face, and instead of being frozen, she moves. Then, she was shot by a sniper after the doll detected her moving in Thanos' direction in episode 1.
5) Young-mi (Kim Shi-eun)
The South Korean actress Kim Shi-eun chronicled the character of Young-mi. She met her unfortunate and unexpected demise in episode 6 of Squid Game 2. During the Mingle game, Young-mi clashed with someone while heading towards the door and eventually fell on the ground. At the time, Hyun-ju (played by Park Sung-hoon) was leading the group.
Hyun-ju tried to help her. However, before Young-mi could reach the door, player 333 (Lee Myung-gi) entered the room and pulled Hyun-ju in, and the door was automatically locked. This led to Young-mi getting killed in the game.
6) Kyung-seok (Lee Jin-wook)
The South Korean actor Lee Jin-wook played the role of Kyung-seok in the survival and dystopian drama Squid Game 2. He participated in the game to collect the money for his daughter's cancer treatment.
By the end of episode 7, he joined Gi-hu to halt the game and eventually picked up the rifles to fight the guards. He was shot dead by one of the guards after running out of the bullets. Even though he begged for mercy, the guards killed him. However, fans speculate he might still be alive.
7) Jung-bae (Lee Seo-hwan)
The veteran actor Lee Seo-hwan took the role of Jung-bae in the Squid Game 2. His character died in episode 7. As Jung-bae and Gi-hun headed to meet the mastermind behind the play, they were halted by the Front Man and his guards. Subsequently, the Front Man killed Jung-bae.
Netflix has confirmed that Squid Game will return with season 3 in 2025.
