"8 episodes is not enough”- Fans express frustration over The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call's short run, demand “Season 2”

On January 24, 2025, the new medical drama named, The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call released on Netflix. The show featured Ju Ji-hoon, Choo Young-woo, Ha Young, Yoon Gyung-ho, Jeong Jae-kwang in important roles, alongside an extensive supporting cast. The show has a total of eight episodes with a runtime of around 51 minutes per episode.

The new show garnered much attention from K-drama fans, who flooded the internet with their complaints about the series being too short, with just eight episodes. One user on X wrote:

“8 episodes is not enough!! We need Season 2!””

Many other fans demanded a second season of The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call. While many complained about the drama being too short, others praised the cast of the medical drama as “amazing.”

“it’s 2am i just finished #TheTraumaCodeHeroesonCall and it was 11/10!!!! ahhh i loved it so much!! 8 episodes is too short for this drama, im hoping we get to have another season with the same amazing cast pls. the trauma team is. medical dramas are so back!!!,” stated a fan.
“NOW WHY IS THIS ONLY 8 EPISODES??? I NEED MORE,” expressed another viewer.
“it's insane how they only give us 8 episodes of this masterpiece drama LIKE GIVE US SEASON 2, 3, 4, 5 RIGHT AWAY IT'S SOOO DAMN GOOD I WILL NEVER GET ENOUGH OF THEM FOR REAL,” wrote a fan.
“The trauma code is so good and I finished the 8 eps in one sitting. No skip and I need more episodes. Season 2 cutieeee,” commented another fan.

Some suggested the makers should have made atleast 12 or 16 episodes, while others said The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call had “perfectly written characters.”

“The ONLY critic I have is that this drama was wayyyy too short. The perfect medical drama if you ask me! Witty, emotional, anxiety inducing at some points and perfectly written characters. I need a season 2!!!!!!,” wrote a fan.
“Yeah go get famous and come with season 2…8 episodes felt so little,” another fan said.
“Right. They should have make it 16 episodes.. or atleast 12..,” stated an admirer.

The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call became the most popular series on Netflix in just one day

On January 25, 2025, Korean media Naver reported that Netflix’s latest show The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call turned into the most popular series on Netflix in South Korea just a day after its debut.

Netflix noted that The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call emerged as the most-viewed miniseries in South Korea within 24 hours of its worldwide premiere across more than 190 countries, eliciting significant responses from audiences.

The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call narrates the challenges faced by a university hospital's trauma center due to funding deficits. The narrative chronicles the path of Baek Kang-hyuk (Ju Ji-hoon), an exceptional trauma surgeon, as he revives his team.

The drama authentically depicts the obstacles confronting the hospital and the dedication of the trauma team as they strive to protect lives.

Ju Ji-hoon's compelling portrayal of Baek Kang-hyuk was prominent in the series, with the encouraging assistance of Choo Young-woo, who embodies the elite character Yang Jae-won.

The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call is based on the web novel, namely "Jungjeungoesangsenteo: Goldeun Awo" (중증외상센터: 골든 아워), which has been written by Hansan iga (한산이가).
