“A man of his words”— Fans appreciate BTS’ Seokjin as he keeps his promise by visiting his military juniors

On August 22, 2024, BTS’ Kim Seokjin was seen reuniting with his fellow soldiers from his unit, keeping the promise he had made to visit them after his discharge. Photos shared on the Naver online community showed the star in casual attire, posing for a group photo with his former comrades.

He was discharged from the military on June 12, and two months later, he paid them a visit on August 22. Not only the fans, but his juniors too, were overwhelmed by this gesture. Fans were quick to recognize it and make comments like, “a man of his words.”

BTS' Seokjin makes comrades happy by visiting his military camp

BTS' Seokjin is well-known in the fandom for his generous nature, covering the costs of meals and gatherings for those around him on multiple occasions. In June 2024, Jin became the first BTS member to be discharged from the military.

The venue was adorned with posters filled with well-wishes and congratulatory messages from his comrades, a display of love that deeply touched fans, showing how cherished he was by those he served with.

Jin’s affection for his juniors was also evident in a recent interview with Weverse Magazine, where he revealed,

“I spent more on buying food for the guys than I earned from my military salary. Many of them had just turned twenty or had yet to enter society, so I thought, ‘You need to eat well to stay healthy. Come on, I’ll treat you.’”

He humorously added that he bought so much chicken, jokbal, and pizza that they got tired of it. Jin also reportedly took soldiers from different quarters out to barbecue restaurants. Seokjin joked about how he was referred to as “god” in his division for always treating his mates with food, while also expressing gratitude for how well his juniors and peers treated him.

His departure from the military was an emotional one, with him reportedly tearing up.

According to a Naver article published on August 22, as a reaction to his above-mentioned recent visit, one of his juniors commented,

“I didn’t know he was serious when he said he would come back to see us after his discharge.”

A similar gesture of generosity was showcased during the second episode of his variety show, Run Jin. During this episode, Seokjin returned to his high school and engaged in games with the current students. After losing to them, he surprised everyone by gifting each student with 30,000 won worth of pizza delivery coupons.

Seokjin enlisted in the frontline Army 5th Division in December 2022 and was discharged in June of this year. Since his discharge, he has been actively participating in various entertainment activities. His solo variety show, Run Jin, now premieres on BTS ’ official YouTube channel every Monday.
