All you need to know about NewJeans' departure from HYBE Labels and its subsidiary, ADOR
On November 28, NewJeans held an emergency press conference to announce their departure from their agency, ADOR.
Previously, the members released a 14-day ultimatum for their agency, stating that ADOR needs to fulfill a certain set of demands and tasks in order for NewJeans to continue under the agency.
The emergency press conference was held on the last of the 14-day ultimatum, and since ADOR failed to meet the group's demands, they chose to depart from the agency.
The members also shared that during the emergency press conference, they received an email from ADOR right before the conference was held.
In the email, they reportedly stated that the agency didn't have enough to fulfill all these tasks and demands. They also requested NewJeans to rethink their decision of departing from the agency.
Regardless, the K-pop girl group members chose to depart from ADOR due to the agency's alleged inability to protect and flourish the growth of NewJeans, stated the members.
Following the press conference, ADOR released a statement expressing that they regretted seeing the emergency press conference take place. They further requested the members to continue working under ADOR since their contract still stands valid.
Furthermore, ADOR also filed a lawsuit against the NewJeans members, asking them to validate their contract time period. They stated that the group's contract supposedly stands valid until July 2027, and the lawsuit is currently ongoing.
