"A typical T.O.P response" — Fans hilariously react as ex-BIGBANG member reveals his desire to play Young-hee, the doll in Squid Game

Recently, in an interview with @chinatimesent which was released on YouTube on January 24, 2025, T.O.P answered the question about which character he would like to play in Squid Game if not Thanos. To this, he responded humorously, saying,

"I want to play Young-hee doll."

He is referring to the doll, Young-hee, in the 'Red Light Green Light' game.

The former BIGBANG member, whose real name is Choi Seung-hyun made a return to the spotlight by taking on the role of Thanos, an unhinged rapper, in the second season of the hit thriller series Squid Game. T.O.P had stepped away from his career in 2017 following his conviction for marijuana use, which led to a 10-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.

Thanos is a rapper who went bankrupt after investing in Bitcoin. Sporting purple hair and tattoos, this character sneaks in drugs which he takes throughout the games. Moreover, despite being responsible for the death of a few of the players, the upbeat character was well-received by his fans who were happy to see T.O.P in his element after a long time.

How did T.O.P help the styling of Thanos?

When asked about his input into the creative styling of his character in an interview with The Rolling Stone on January 27, the rapper shared that the design of Thanos evolved through numerous meetings.

“One day, the director mentioned that he didn’t think Thanos would have ordinary black hair. From there, we discussed how Thanos, being such a simple-minded character, would probably have purple hair,” he explained.

He also revealed that Thanos's tattoos were designed with great attention to detail, involving extensive collaboration with the hair and makeup team. Additionally, the character's nails were painted in the colors of the Infinity Stones to reflect his exaggerated and absurd personality.

"I thought it would add to his cringeworthy nature if he had a manicure matching the Infinity Stones," T.O.P said.

When he shared the idea with the director, it was enthusiastically approved.

Interestingly, this detail inspired an unscripted scene where Se-mi meets Thanos and mocks him by asking if he collected all the Infinity Stones. Thanos proudly shows off his manicure, replying, “Of course.” He added that Thanos’s colorful nails also resembled Skittles, which happen to be the character’s favorite snack. This playful creativity contributed to bringing Thanos to life as a more vivid and memorable character.
