On December 16, BTS' Jin and celebrity chef Baek Jong-won presented their joint liquor 'IGIN' for pre-order on the convenience store GS25's app. Soon after pre-orders began, the app's servers crashed across Korea. Furthermore, the liquor quickly ran out of stock after its release.

As per reports, BTS member Jin and renowned celebrity chef Baek Jong-won have collaborated to produce IGIN, a traditional Korean liquor. It is prepared from locally cultivated high-sugar apples, from Baek Jong-won's hometown of Yesan, and has already sparked widespread interest, particularly among BTS fans.

BTS' Jin’s fans flooded the internet with their reactions to the singer’s popularity which led to nationwide server failure. One user on X stated:

“Add this to the list of things we break.”

Many other responses toward the app failure and sold-out stocks were seen online. While some said BTS' Jin's impact is "insane," others emphasized his "power."

“HE IMPACTTTT IS TRULY INSANEEE,” a fan wrote.
“THE POWER,” another commented.
“Now imagine if us international fans had access to this? That poor server had no chance,” stated one more fan.

Some fans were proud of BTS' Jin, while others said the “blessings keep pouring” on the Running Wild singer.

“Jini’s Lamp opening, GS25 website crashed as IGIN soldout, Dicon Jin daily new contents, Jin 2nd tvN kdrama OST soon. there’s so much going on in seokjination today,” an admirer commented.
“Haters right now.. lmao all their hate and drag didn’t work coz jin is so blessed, and blessings keep pouring,” a fan stated.
“Good to know! We are so proud of Jin!” another fan remarked.

BTS' Jin and Culinary Class Wars judge Baek Jong-won partnered for the business venture

According to a December 12 report by News1 Korea, BTS’ Kim Seokjin and Culinary Class Wars season 1 judge Chef Baek Jong-won have teamed up to offer multiple flavors of IGIN. Alongside the classic distilled version of IGIN, the duo is also offering ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages.

These will comprise 'IGIN Sweet Tonic' and 'IGIN Tangy Tonic,' made with ingredients such as locally sourced apples, plums, and watermelons. This initiative represents Jin's first major economic endeavor beyond his music career, showcasing his passion for pushing traditional Korean liquor.

This collaboration between Jin and Baek Jong-won, along with their friendship and shared passion for Korean traditional beverages, has generated considerable enthusiasm among fans.

BTS' Jin recently co-founded a company called Yesan Doga, which launched IGIN distilled liquor. Furthermore, in December 2022, Jin and Baek Jong-won launched the agricultural corporation Jini's Lamp in Yesan to bring their idea to life. Jini's Lamp handles the making of the liquor, while Yesan Doga, a subsidiary of The Born Korea, is responsible for its distribution.

Following the pre-orders, the launch of IGIN will be commemorated during a grand celebration in Seoul's Seongdong-gu from December 20 to December 24, 2024. The pop-up shop will be open from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at 13 Yeonmujang 11-gil, Seongdong-gu.

In other related news, BTS' Jin is also set to sing the main OST for the eagerly awaited Netflix K-drama When the Stars Gossip, as reported by Sports Chosun on December 16. The drama is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on January 4, 2025, featuring Lee Min-ho and Gong Hyo-jin in the leading roles.
