ADOR, a subsidiary label of the entertainment conglomerate HYBE, has issued an official statement reportedly filing an injunction against NewJeans to prevent them from making independent contracts with advertisers. On January 13, South Korean media agency Newsen reported that the entertainment company had filed an injunction against NewJeans.

On November 28, 2024, the Hype Boy singers unilaterally terminated their contract with ADOR during a press conference, accusing them of breach of contract. On December 17, 2024, it was reported that Danielle, a member of the girl band, was announced as OMEGA's global ambassador, independently.

As per the latest statement of ADOR, the injunction filed is to protect the third parties from any damage. This is because the agency had previously filed a legal case against the Super Shy singers to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract at Seoul Central District Court on December 3, 2024.

An excerpt from the statement read:

“This decision was made to prevent confusion and damage to third parties, such as advertisers, as the NewJeans members, who unilaterally declared the termination of their exclusive contracts, continued to attempt to independently contact and sign contracts with advertisers."

ADOR's injunction against NewJeans statement: Agency reportedly planned girl group’s upcoming activities in 2025

On January 13, Newsen reported that ADOR released a statement regarding the injunction against NewJeans to stop them from signing contracts with advertisers without their consent. The agency expressed that they would lose competitiveness, citing it to be a crisis that would impact the K-pop industry.

As per the statement, the agency has appealed to the court through the injunction to avoid any wrong actions taken by the girl group. They reportedly stated that the injunction is a way to showcase their willingness to work with the girl group in the future, despite their unilateral termination of the contract last year.

“This injunction application reflects ADOR’S will to be with the NewJeans members. It also reflects the judgment that even if a final ruling is made several years later that the exclusive contract is valid, it may already be impossible to restore it to its original state,” they wrote.

The agency further claimed that they have extended their support to the girl group’s activities, believing that their contract is still valid and will also remain the same in the future.

“ADOR has consistently supported all personnel and facilities for NewJeans’ entertainment activities in accordance with its position that the exclusive contract with NewJeans is valid, and it plans to continue to do so in the future,” the agency said.

They further added that they have reportedly received several offers in regards to advertisement and commercial projects. Besides this, the agency also reportedly unveiled that they have planned the activities for 2025, which also includes a comeback release, a fan convention, and more.

“ADOR is receiving external offers for various projects, such as advertisements and events, and internally, we have already completed planning this year’s activities, including the release of a full-length album and fan meetings, so we have conveyed our wishes to communicate sufficiently with the members,” the company added.

Meanwhile, NewJeans performed at Countdown Japan 24/25, known to be one of the largest indoor festivals in the country, which was held at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo.

The girl band showcased their performance on December 31, 2024, which marked the last day of the festival. Furthermore, they also appeared at the 39th Golden Disc Awards, which took place at the Fukuoka PayPay Dome on January 4, 2025.
