BTS' Kim Seok-jin, who goes by his stage name Jin, is set to release his debut solo album by the end of 2024. The artist was the first member of BTS to enlist in mandatory military service in December 2022 after releasing his debut solo single, The Astronaut on October 28, 2022. However, since his military discharge in June 2024, HYBE announced that his first solo album would arrive in the fourth quarter of this year.
MTN News reported on October 7, 2024, that HYBE depends highly on Jin's forthcoming release. The company anticipates that the release will result in an upward trend in its share market price and boost revenues by a huge margin.
HYBE reportedly made 295 billion won (over $209 million) in operating profit and 2.1 trillion won (over $1.56 billion) in sales in 2023. According to the Fair Trade Commission's 2024 conglomerate classification status, HYBE was the only entertainment firm to generate over 2 trillion won in a single year and have total assets exceeding 5 trillion won.
However, with most members of BTS gone for their military enlistment and the company's ongoing feud with ADOR, HYBE witnessed a loss in 2024. Although it saw a profit in its share price when the Astronaut singer-songwriter was discharged from the military, the company's shares dropped recently by 31.5%.
Daol Investment & Securities researcher Kim Hye-young predicted that Jin's album can bump HYBE's share prices and said:
"We believe that there is sufficient upward momentum for the stock price, expecting BTS Jin to record the highest sales of his solo album and all-time in the fourth quarter of this year."
The BTS ARMY's anticipation was heightened with this statement as they trended on X (formerly Twitter) with the phrase "KSJ1 IS COMING". A fan wrote:
"ALBUM OF THE DECADE IS ON ITS WAY"
ARMYs flooded social media with their excitement about the BTS idol's upcoming solo album and demanded that HYBE should announce its release soon.
"Baby we are so ready for you!!!! I'm so excited to see what he has in store for us. We can never predict what this man is gonna come up with," a fan wrote on X.
"Can’t wait to have new seokjin music. it’s so exciting to know we can have ksj1 announcement very soon," another fan wrote.
"I genuinely believe jin getting a number one album and making history will solve all the hurt and exhaustion of the past year," another fan said.
Others underscored the immense pressure on the BTS singer as the industry and the stock market experts are looking at Jin to reverse HYBE's decreasing share value.
"55783 idol groups and all the pressure on seokjin alone to bring back hybe on its feet," a fan mentioned.
"The pressure my man has!! Omg free him. I only want his best," another fan added.
"He's one if not the last artist in that building to release music in 2024 and theyre still treating him as the hybe messiest year savior," another fan wrote.
