On Saturday, November 23, BLACKPINK's Rosé gave an exclusive interview to The New York Times. During the interview, the K-pop idol opened up about her private Instagram account, which was created under the pseudonym “Vampirehollie,” when asked about it.
“"Vampirehollie" was my private Instagram account. My official account has a lot of followers, and I always have to think about what people are going to think of me, but I wanted an Instagram where I didn't have to be cool.” Rosé said.
The idol explained how negative individuals became obsessed with her. They found BLACKPINK's Rosé's Finsta (a slang term for a secret Instagram account). She also discussed how some fans attempted to control her.
“It's my Finsta. And then a few fans found out about it, and there are certain people who want to be negative, and they were trying to find all the ways to get to me. They ended up getting to that account and then using that to cause drama and create - actually trigger me. It felt like they were obsessed with the thought of controlling me,” Rosé added.
This revelation enraged many of BLACKPINK's Rosé followers, who expressed outrage at the fans responsible for causing trouble for the singer. Echoing these sentiments, one user on X commented:
“rosé confirmed vampirehollie to be her private instagram account. those who tried to find a gotcha moment using this should all be embarrassed of yourselves.,”
Many fans expressed discontent with certain Rosé followers who caused her distress and infringed upon her privacy. Some asserted that the idol has a "right to privacy" akin to that of ordinary human beings, while others criticized supporters attempting to control Rosé.
“rosie i'm so sorry huhu leave her alone. she has right to privacy like any other human,” expressed a follower.
“it just insane mentality that some fans out there has the idea of controlling idols private lives,” stated a fan.
“Oh god seeing her talk about all this is making me so sad the things she has had to go through and triggered her,” wrote another follower.
Fans also praised BLACKPINK's Rosé for her courage in exposing the truth.
“if you've ever called her lazy and insulted you don't deserve to be celebrating any of her wins rn,” said another user on X.
“Some idiot fans are just so miserable. So happy she's getting braver calling out those fckers!,” another X user stated.
“some of you people need to understand that y'all don't need to have receipts about what these idols do in each and every sec of their lives,” wrote another fan.
BLACKPINK's Rosé also opened up about cyberbullying during The New York Times interview
During the interview, Rosé was also questioned if she had encountered the K-pop anti-fan movement, which primarily targeted female musicians. BLACKPINK's Rosé got teary-eyed as she admitted that she had faced it. The idol stated that, despite being strong-minded and positive, she felt horrible when she was cyberbullied.
“Like, I am very positive, and I like to be smart about how things affect me. But when it actually did get to me, it felt pretty, pretty bad. I was like, "Oh, my gosh, I am going through this." I never thought I would. I would see things online, and I'd always think, I wonder why they let that get to them? When it did, I was shocked.”
Besides, BLACKPINK's Rosé reflected on her trainee days, expressing how much she missed those times. She longed for the days when she had an endless amount of time to work on her songs. She thought living like it all the time was a special moment she wouldn't have again.
Currently, BLACKPINK's Rosé is gearing up for the release of her much-awaited solo album Rosie, which will be available on December 6, 2024.
