On November 7, 2024, a representative from HYBE's sub-label ADOR reported to Maeil Business Newspaper's Star Today that NewJeans' Haerin would not take the college entrance exam. She has decided to skip the 2025 College Scholastic Ability Test to focus on group activities. According to the media outlet, the female artist was born in 2006; therefore, she is eligible to participate in the CSAT this year.
For those unversed, the College Scholastic Ability Test, or Suneung, is a standardized test recognized by South Korean Universities. The Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation (KICE) organizes the annual test on the third Thursday in November.
Subsequently, the news about Haerin not taking the CSAT in 2024 circulated on social media and went viral among the fandom.
"she already has a beautiful career in newjeans so its okay," an X user tweeted.
The fandom supported Haerin's latest decision to skip the college entrance exam. They were also glad that the female artist would focus more on the group's activities.
"Haerin is putting all her focus on NewJeans! ADOR announces she won’t be taking the CSAT this year, choosing to dedicate her time to group activities. Fans are excited to see what’s next for her and NewJeans," a fan reacted.
"She already graduated high school earlier Many people have careers after high school It’s common things that happen to anyone, it’s not the end of the f*cking world And people can go to college whenever they want," a fan shared.
"Even someone on the same label as her skip CSAT but no one bat an eye Some idol doesn’t even graduate high school Y’all just jealous that she’s RICH and already have bright career. And you just stinky hags bound in parasocial relationships and trapped in moldy room," a fan commented.
"haerin passed her GED test and graduated highschool early she’s literally advanced she’s SMART and RICH can’t say the same about u jobless freaks leave her alone," a fan mentioned.
The fandom showered praises on the member for her latest decision and regarded her as a responsible individual.
"I mean if Haerin was in another girl group in Hybe, then sure I would be concerned, but shes a member of NewJeans and shes THE Haerin so she doesnt need to take the CSAT," a user reacted.
"honestly the news about haerin not taking csat this year is like a confirmation that there will be many newjeans' activities in the near future... i don't get why people are so pressed about that??" a user shared.
"haerin didn't take the csat exam not because she couldn't, but because it wasn't the time yet for her. She could have taken the csat exam and I'm very sure she could have passed the college entrance exam. She wants to focus on NewJeans & has no time for college at this time," a user commented.
"Haerin the same girl who has multi millions to her name, has her dream career, known and supported by millions across the world, works tirelessly everyday so she can be her best on stage for us, able to support herself and her family for generations to come all at the age of 18," a user mentioned.
