On August 5, 2024, BTS Jungkook became the first K-pop soloist to surpass 4 billion Spotify streams on his solo album, GOLDEN. On November 3, 2023, the BTS sensation released his album with 11 tracks including the title track, Standing Next to You.
The album track compositions and production involved several Western musicians such as Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, and DJ Snake. Apart from GOLDEN's 11 tracks, the album streams also include the 10 versions of Seven (feat. Latto), 8 separate renditions of Standing Next to You, and 7 versions of 3D (feat. Jack Harlow).
This takes the total songs tally to 36 including the original tracks. With 36 tracks, GOLDEN surpassed the 4 billion streams threshold, becoming the first album by a K-pop soloist to achieve this feat.
Fans went into an online meltdown and cheered for the BTS idol's latest victory. One fan expressed their happiness by lauding the artist and wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
"And that’s what we call a record setter. Jungkook doesn’t only make history, he sets new records and that’s truly so cool! 5B streams are on the way now!"
BTS ARMY praised the South Korean musician for his unbeatable impact on the music industry. They underscored that Jungkook's album achieved this feat within 9 months of its release.
"The first Asian soloist and the fastest to achieve this in history, with Jungkook being the last to release his album and achieving this in just 9 months, his impact is on another level," one fan wrote.
"The biggest album by Asian Act, did it in less than a year. No deluxe version, no world tour. Just dropped and went to serve his country. The Biggest Asian Act for a reason," another fan said.
"Someone once said "it will always be bts against the entire world" and how right they were," one fan added.
Others hailed BTS Jungkook as the "main pop boy" and praised his album.
"The most perfect pop album, by the main pop boy. Impatiently waiting for his second album," another fan commented.
"Best debut album of all the times.. he's really the main pop boy," one fan wrote.
"Did that organically something that others can't relate to," another fan added.
