On September 18, 2024, BIGHIT MUSIC, now under HYBE, released BTS' Jungkook's documentary, JUNGKOOK: I AM STILL, in theatres worldwide. While fans enjoyed the documentary in general, some were upset when the credits rolled at the end. Specifically, controversy arose over the crediting of the artist's solo song, Never Let Go.
Despite the track being sung solely by Jungkook, it was credited as a BTS group song in the documentary. While the BTS star was the sole performer and was also listed as one of the writers - alongside notable contributors like Melanie Fontana, Anton Martin Mendo, Bak, Jesse Bluu, Michel "Lindgren" Schulz, Sim Fane, and Tobias Dekker - fans were nonetheless disappointed by the misrepresentation.
They took to social media, criticizing HYBE for not giving the idol the recognition he deserved. Many felt that his hard work and contribution to the track should have been more clearly acknowledged. One user on X, @DavyWer, voiced their frustration and wrote,
"Ofc that company had their paws on this documentary too, we saw from some clips already. But it was too much to at least write the credits right??? F this, get out of that place pls, Jungkook. That company needs you, not otherwise."
"Why is it credited to BTS in ‘I Am Still’ credits? He solo branded it when it was released, BTS isn’t in performing credits of the song. Why does BIGHIT MUSIC insist on stealing from his work any chance they get?" a fan commented.
"Not a single thing related to jk without credit issues," another user mentioned.
"Of course they did. They have done this to Jungkook time after time after time. It’s all about money and control," an X user commented.
Fans also pointed out that the label has repeatedly made similar mistakes, emphasizing that it's time the company starts giving the artist proper credit.
"This is so tiring! When will they give proper credits to Jungkook!?" a fan remarked.
"AGAIN WHEN THAT PEOPLE LEAVE JK ALONE AND GIVE THE FULL CREDIT TO HIM," a netizen commented.
"Seriously... I can't with that conpany... No more," a fan mentioned.
