On Saturday, January 11, Red Velvet rolled out their performance at the first show of the SM TOWN LIVE 2025 concert series, which was held at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, South Korea. At the show, the group's three members, Irene, Seulgi, and Joy, were seen performing a cover of their senior artist, Girls Generation's Devil Run.

Red Velvet's Yeri and Wendy explain the reason behind their absense from SMTOWN LIVE 2025
On January 6, a few days prior to the beginning of the concert series SMTOWN LIVE 2025, Red Velvet's Yeri took to her Bubble account to state the reason behind her absence from few of the stages of this tour. She stated that she will not be a part of any special or collaboration stages at SMTOWN LIVE 2025.
She mentioned that her current busy schedule didn't give her the time or space to prepare for these special stages. She further wrote in the message on Bubble:
"Many people wanted me to give spoilers for the concert, but I think I will only be performing for the Red Velvet main stage! I am letting you know in advance in case people are looking forward to other stages. I don’t have the time or the luxury to prepare something with my current schedule. It’s unfortunate, but I’ve decided to prepare well for the main stage."
On the other hand, Wendy also took to her Bubble account to explain her absence from the entire concert series, SMTOWN LIVE 2025. Earlier, SM Entertainment released a statement revealing that both Girls Generation's Taeyeon and Red Velvet's Wendy won't be participating in the concert series due to personal reasons.
To clarify her stance, Wendy mentioned that she had informed the agency a month before not participating in this concert tour. Seemingly hinting at SM Entertainment for not making the announcement earlier, she wrote:
"You may or may not have already seen the announcement… I actually discussed this with the company over a month ago, but the notice was only posted today…"
Wendy continued:
"I’m sure there were a lot of ReVeluvs who were looking forward to seeing Red Velvet perform as a full group of five, and I’m really sorry about that. Since it’s the 30th anniversary, there are a variety of stages being prepared. I hope you’ll have a great time. Thank you, as always, and I’m sorry."
While many fans were upset over the absence of two Red Velvet members from SMTOWN LIVE 2025, they were still thrilled and elated to see the other members roll out show-stopping performances.
