ATEEZ recently collaborated with American rapper G-Eazy on their new track, WORK Pt. 4. However, some details have surfaced which have annoyed certain ATEEZ fans, ATINYs. After the song's release on August 9, 2024, fans quickly picked up on something unusual in the lyrics. During G-Eazy's verse, it appeared that he might be taking a jab at his former lover, Halsey.
Given that both artists have a history of referencing each other in their music, fans speculated that this was yet another instance of that. However, many were disappointed that G-Eazy chose this collaboration with ATEEZ as the platform to do so. Fans took to social media to voice their concerns, expressing their disapproval of the rapper’s approach.
“Why did g-eazy’s stupid ass use an Ateez song to diss Halsey,” a fan exclaimed.
“Using a collab of all things to make a little diss at your ex,” another fan remarked.
“G-Eazy shading Halsey (AFTER YEARS OF BREAK UP) in a kpop collab with a pirate group...This was not on my bingo list AT ALL,” a disappointed fan said.
“ATINY don't be so excited. Most disappointed collab I've ever seen,” a fan said.
“Lol poor Halsey,” a fan sympathised.
“G-Eazy still shading Halsey with that libra line, move on bro,” a fan expressed frustratedly.
ATEEZ fans disappointed over G-Easy's choice of lyrics in WORK Pt. 4
WORK Pt. 4 is a remix of ATEEZ's original track WORK, the title song from their 10th mini album, Golden Hour Pt. 1. This new version features a collaboration with G-Eazy. However, during the rapper's verse in the song, the fans quickly noticed lyrics that seemed to mention his past relationship with Halsey:
"Acting innocent, no it’s not your first time. We’re far away if Libra is her sign."
Given that Halsey, born on September 29th, is a Libra, fans interpreted this as a subtle dig at her. This led to disappointment among ATINYs, who felt that G-Eazy's decision to use this collaboration as a platform for personal commentary was inappropriate, especially considering that this is one of the young K-pop group's first major Western collaborations.
Fans of ATEEZ expressed their dissatisfaction, feeling that the focus should have been on the collaboration itself rather than old relationship drama.
G-Eazy and Halsey's relationship timeline
G-Eazy and Halsey first sparked dating rumors after being seen together at several events. They later confirmed their relationship and collaborated on the hit single Him & I, which they performed together multiple times. The couple broke up for the first time, with Halsey announcing the split on social media. She hinted at infidelity on G-Eazy's part.
In the track I Wanna Rock, released in October 2019, G-Eazy includes lines that many fans interpreted as a dig at Halsey. Additionally, in the song Had Enough, G-Eazy makes a more pointed reference. He raps,
"Exes I’m dissing, used to be all friendly / No happy endings, always two sides of every story."
The line was seen as a jab at Halsey, particularly given the timing of the release and the context of their tumultuous parting. Halsey also addressed the breakup in her music, most notably in the song Without Me.
The song, which became one of her biggest hits, is widely believed to be about her relationship with G-Eazy. Halsey confirmed in interviews that the song was inspired by a toxic relationship, which fans assumed to be G-Eazy.
However, this personal feud between these two artists disappointed the ATEEZ fans when G-Eazy didn’t leave out his collaboration with ATEEZ and used it as a platform to signal at his ex as well.
