Bad Memory Eraser episode 8 recap: Lee Goon delves further into the truth of his accident
The eighth episode of Bad Memory Eraser begins with Lee Goon, where he enters the meeting room and Sae-yan introduces herself. In the end of the last episode, Sae-yan arrived there to work as an Italian interpreter for Lee Goon and Cha Si On’s meeting with the coach.
Meanwhile, Guk-bong and Lee Shin engage in a dispute over Goon's first love, Ju-yeon. Shin acknowledges that he was present with Ju-yeon in the parking lot, and suggests that Goon may have simply misinterpreted their interaction.
However, internally, Shin is aware that he was in the company of Sae-yan on the evening Goon spotted him at the alumni reunion.
Shin appears to be making a strong effort to hide the truth of Goon's accident, and he is determined to prevent Goon from recollecting that particular night under any circumstances. Guk-bong advises Shin to sever his connection with Ju-yeon.
Guk-bong believes that if Shin and Ju-yeon are seen together, it may trigger unpleasant memories for Goon. Shin concludes the conversation by stating that if this were true, Goon would not have chosen Ju-yeon as his agency's team doctor, nor would he have treated him kindly. Ju-yeon and Shin leave together.
Shin and Ju-yeon sit at some place, where he points out at the place where he saved Goon when he fell from the bridge. He tells her that Goon cried before his accident, and he was already living like a dead man; therefore, he doesn’t want Goon’s bad memories to come back.
Ju-yeon thanks Shin for making the decision to erase Goon’s memories. He convinces Ju-yeon that he will do anything for his brother’s happiness and insists on helping her take care of Goon.
When Ju-yeon asks Shin about the girl who was with him in the parking lot, he becomes anxious and changes the conversation.
Goon, on the other hand, learns that Ju-yeon sent Sae-yan as an interpreter for his meeting. When Goon drops Sae-yan to her place, the latter tells him that he looks familiar to her, which he denies.
The next day, Ju-yeon tells Goon to be consistent with his counselling sessions and gives him an emotion diary to write down his emotions on, to which he disagrees and leaves.
Ju-yeon then goes to Professor Han and shares her observations about the subject (Goon). Professor Han tells her not get emotionally involved with the subject as he notices changes in Ju-yeon’s behaviour.
Goon, on the other hand, enters an office, where he comes to represent his Agency Goon in order to secure investment. He successfully manages to do so, while Chief Hong (president of Big Picture Agency) fails to get investment for his business. He seems surprised at such a huge change in his personality.
In the next scene of Bad Memory Eraser, Shin’s parents bring him to the hospital for his national team medical test. His mother comes across some of her friends who praise Shin for his success, but look down on Goon for his condition.
While she is engaged in conversation, she notices Ju-yeon and introduces her as Goon’s love to her friends. Shin promptly enters the scene and tries to change her mother’s statement, saying that Ju-yeon is his brother’s former first and unrequited love.
Subsequently, Ju-yeon instructs Shin to locate Goon's emotion diary, which he may have been documenting prior to his accident. This diary has the potential to evoke Goon's distressing recollections if he were to come across it.
He tells her that he will look for it in his house. Ju-yeon leaves, and Shin decides to give his contract to Goon’s agency, as he will be able to see Ju-yeon more often there.
In the meantime, Goon reaches the J Hotel as he is trying to investigate his accident. When he looks at the tree at the hotel’s entrance, his memories of his accident night get triggered.
He then goes to the office of emergency transfer and asks them if there were any requests placed under his or his brother’s name on the day of his accident. He finds out the location from which he was transported to the hospital, it was the bridge.
He then goes to the bridge, and when he is looking down the bridge some memories trigger, and he sees a blurred face holding him by his neck and pushing him down the bridge.
Subsequent to this, Shin calls Ju-yeon and tells her that Goon is investigating his case. Shin reaches the police station and asks the officer if he revealed the truth to Goon, which the officer denies.
He tells the officer that he can’t let Goon know that he jumped into the Han River, and he also takes responsibility for hiding this truth from his brother.
At the police station, Shin also overhears the officer, who is confirming the CCTV footage of the accident. The other officer tells him that due to heavy rain, there is no footage.
After listening to this, Shin leaves. He rushes to his house and starts looking for Goon’s emotion diary, and he finds it. He informs Ju-yeon that he handled the police.
On the other hand, Goon’s parents, who aren’t aware of Ju-yeon staying with Goon, pay a surprise visit to his place. In an effort to hide from his parents, Ju-yeon leaves his house and sits on a bench outside.
Shin arrives at the scene and offers her shoes. After his parents leave, Goon also enters from behind and takes Ju-yeon inside with him.
Shin, in the next scene of Bad Memory Eraser, is seen with Chief Hong in his office. He furiously tears off the agreement and rushes to Goon’s place. Chief Hong follows Shin when he finds out Shin tried killing Goon on the bridge, as the photos of this day were lying on his table. These photos were received by Chief Hong in the past.
Both Hong and Shin reach Goon’s house. As soon as Shin rings the bell, Hong holds him and shows him the photos of the accident night in his hand. Goon, who is seeing everything on his door camera, tries to understand their conversation.
Listening to them again, his memories trigger, but when he opens the door, Shin and Hong have already left. Ju-yeon shocks Goon when she tells her that she will explain everything to him.
Episode 8 of Bad Memory Eraser ends with Hong blackmailing Shin with the photos and telling him that he pushed his brother from the bridge.
