On the morning of July 18, 2024, fans of Lovely Runner actor, Byeon Woo-seok, crashed the server of Nonghyeop Bank while attempting to sign up for his exclusive photo cards.

As soon as fans learned they could get free Byeon Woo-seok photo cards by participating in the NH Travel event, the website crashed due to an excessive amount of traffic trying to access it.

Byeon Woo-seok's fan following has recently shot up with the release of Lovely Runner where he plays the role of Ryu Sun-jae. He recently ventured on the Asia Summer Letter Fanmeeting Tour, in various countries, to interact with his fans as well as perform for them.

How did Byeon Woo-seok's fans crash the server of Nonghyeop Bank?

Previously, Byeon Woo-seok was selected as the new model for Nonghyeop Bank's NH Travel event. Nonghyeop announced that customers who registered for an NH travel check card will receive a Byeon Woo-seok photo card.

They made it clear that the first 10,000 new consumers who applied for the card would receive two photo cards.

According to the fine print, only new customers who applied for the card by mail were eligible to receive the cards. Those who applied for the card in person would not receive picture cards, since bank branches were out of stock of them.

As soon as the event began at 9 AM KST, fans were waiting and hoping to get their hands on the picture cards. With an enormous number of fans trying to access the server, it crashed. As the alternative options, fans hurried to the closest bank branch to register and get the card by mail later on.

Byeon Woo-seok's airport security fiasco

Byeon Woo-seok recently came under fire for allegedly having a "celebrity disease." The singer was criticized due to his security crew's behavior at the airport.

It appears that the security crew shone the flashlight at other passengers in the lounge. Celebrity security guards often shine flashlights to avoid getting clicked by paparazzi in public outside areas. However, the co-passengers waiting inside the lounge took up to internet and complained about the same.

Soon after, the CEO of the security team apologized. They said:

"No personnel should have acted that way while bodyguarding a client. It is not in our manual to do so, however, I feel responsible as the representative of the company. We apologize for inconveniencing other customers in the lounge by flashing lights in the eye."

Despite the agency representing Byeon Woo-seok apologizing in writing on the internet, netizens continued to criticize them. Woo-seok's agency also lowered the number of bodyguards from six to three following the controversy.

Meanwhile, on July 17, 2024, The Korean Herald reported that the police are considering an investigation over it. Also, the National Human Rights Commission received a complaint, asking for authorities to investigate the case on potential violations of human rights.
