“Beginning of greater things”: Fans react as RIIZE becomes the first boy group debuted this decade to surpass 100k followers on MelOn

On December 21, the emerging K-pop music group RIIZE became the first boy band of this decade to surpass 100,000 followers on the Korean songs app MelOn. The new boy band, managed by SM Entertainment, made its debut on September 4, 2023, with their single Get a Guitar.

RIIZE’s fans were impressed with their latest milestone on MelOn. As a result, the group’s supporters flooded the internet with their love and appreciation for the band. Expressing this sentiment, one user on X stated:

Many other mixed responses for the boy band’s latest milestone were seen online. While some were delighted that RIIZE achieved this success within a year of its launch, others claimed they deserved this recognition.

RIIZE released its first mini album RIIZING in June 2024

RIIZING is the first mini album by the boy band, which came out on June 17, 2024. Boom Boom Bass served as the title track for their mini album. Impossible was a pre-album release that marked its debut on April 18, 2024. Here’s the complete tracklist of their RIIZING album:

Earlier, in June 2024, the K-pop group’s first mini album RIIZING surpassed one million copies sold on Hanteo. Following this, in July, RIIZING debuted in the #1 position of the Oricon Daily Albums Chart with 30,586 estimated sales.

Further, in August 2024, the boy band became the first fifth-gen group and fastest boy group in history to reach one billion total digital points on Circle Chart within 11 months of its official debut in September 2023.

In related news, the ex-RIIZE member Seunghan received the Best Idol award for 2024 on December 18. A recent fan-initiated poll for the Best K-pop Idol of 2024 was carried out via the Kooky Voting app, attracting participation from fans around the world.

A prize will be awarded to the idol, and a sponsor café will be established in Gangnam, Seoul. Upon the end of the voting process for the category, the group's former member Seughan was declared the clear winner.
