BIGBANG members G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung reunited for the talk show appearance on Daesung Zip on November 5, 2024. During their discussion, Daesung mentioned some K-pop groups that caught his attention from the beginning such as aespa, MEOVV, and BABYMONSTER. Meanwhile, Taeyang mentioned that SEVENTEEN left an impression on him since they debuted in 2015.
Taeyang recalled how he once saw SEVENTEEN rehearsing for their debut music show performance in 2015. The Vibe singer added that the 13-piece boy band from HYBE subsidiary, Pledis Entertainment left a strong impression on him.
"I still remember what we said while we watched back then. I think it was SEVENTEEN's debut stage. We saw their rehearsal and I said, 'This group will definitely succeed.' I don't even remember the song and all that but the energy that they showed on stage, that's very important. And I felt that."
Meanwhile, Daesung mentioned that he finds the 5th-generation girl groups MEOVV and BABYMONSTER promising.

Known by fans as one of the pioneering groups that introduced K-pop to the global stage, BIGBANG consisted of members G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, Seungri, and Daesung. They debuted in 2006 and quickly rose to prominence with their unique blend of hip-hop, pop, and EDM, coupled with a rebellious and edgy style that set them apart.
Their major hits like Fantastic Baby, Bang Bang Bang, and Loser established them as trendsetters in the K-pop industry. After their last official release, Flower Road in 2018, the K-pop group went on a temporary hiatus due to military enlistment.
However, Seungri left the group in 2019 and announced his retirement after the Burning Sun scandal. In April 2022, BIGBANG released a single titled Still Life as a four-member group. Furthermore, T.O.P. the group left in May 2023.
BIGBANG's Taeyang released his solo single after five years, Vibe (feat. Jimin of BTS), on January 13, 2023, as the pre-release single from his second extended play Down to Earth. The song ranked at No. 76 on the Billboard Hot 100. Meanwhile, Daesung released Falling Slowly and its MV starring South Korean popular actors Kim Seon-ho and Moo Ga-young on March 5, 2024.
BIGBANG's G-Dragon released his comeback solo single, POWER, after seven years on October 31, 2024, after leaving YG Entertainment in December 2023. The song charted in 15 countries on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart.
In other news, NME reported in February 2023 that former BIGBANG member Seungri was released from prison on February 9, 2023, after serving 18 months. He was charged with money embezzlement, and arranging pr*stitution for VIPs for his nightclub, Burning Sun—which has been shut down since 2019 due to the scandal.
