BLACKPINK’s Rosé has sparked an unexpected boost in sales for HiteJinro, a well-known Korean soju brand, as reported by The Korea Herald on October 25, 2024. This surge began following her recent video with Vogue magazine on October 19, where she demonstrated her style of making somaek (a blend of soju and beer) using HiteJinro’s soju.
Following the video, the brand saw an increase in its sales, cementing the influence the star has over her fans as well as some businesses.
Rosé’s song APT. reportedly causes stock prices of various brands to skyrocket
YG Entertainment, the agency behind BLACKPINK and Rosé, recently shared the impactful market response to her latest solo release, APT. After the song’s release, YG’s stock experienced a remarkable 30% surge, the highest growth in over seven months. This substantial rise was initially reported by Billboard, catching the attention of the international music industry.
However, YG Entertainment wasn’t the only company experiencing a value boost due to APT.'s popularity. Several other brands have also seen a positive impact, with HiteJinro, a popular Korean soju brand, standing out for its impressive gains.
On October 24, 2024, HiteJinro reported a major uptick in its stock, with its price reaching 21,200 KRW (about $15.26 USD), representing a 6% increase in value. This surge marked their biggest rise since February. Furthermore, the brand’s trading volume skyrocketed, crossing one million shares, which constituted eight times the usual daily volume, representing the demand and investor interest generated by Rosé’s song.
The catalyst for HiteJinro’s increased stock value was a recent Vogue YouTube video where Rosé shared her favorite drink recipe, a “somaek” (soju mixed with beer) while preparing kimchi fried rice. Fans quickly noticed she was using HiteJinro soju for the drink, sparking widespread purchases of the brand, resulting in this significant stock increase.
In addition to HiteJinro and YG Entertainment, other brands like Mobidays, Genie Music, Dreamus, FNS, etc, have reportedly seen revenue benefits too, thanks to the song’s influence.
Beyond these financial achievements, APT. by Rosé ft. Bruno Mars has broken significant records on the charts. The song has become the first-ever K-pop release to top the Apple Music Global Chart, achieving a historic milestone for Korean artists.
It has also claimed the number-one spot on several major charts worldwide, including Spotify, iTunes, and FLO. Additionally, the song recently clinched its first Korean music show win on Mnet’s M Countdown, delighting the fans.
