On January 12, 2025, BTS' Jungkook’s GOLDEN created history as the first album by a K-pop soloist to surpass 5 billion streams on Spotify. The BTS member’s album achieved this mark on Spotify in just 433 days. BTS' Jungkook’s GOLDEN was released in November 2023.

With this recent accomplishment, the SEVEN singer's debut album has become the fastest studio album by a K-pop act to attain this mark. The idol has entered a coveted group of male independent artists whose albums have received more than 5 billion Spotify streams. The list includes well-known singers such as Michael Jackson, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Charlie Puth, and others.

BTS' Jungkook’s fans were overjoyed with his latest accomplishment. Subsequently, his admirers swamped the internet with their praises for the singer and his work in the music industry. One user on X stated:

“JUNGKOOK was born to define history in the most valid way”

Many other reactions to Jungkook’s latest milestone were recorded online. While some claimed Jungkook to be an “organic and consistent artist,” others referred to him as the “most successful” Asian soloist.

BTS' Jungkook’s GOLDEN became the best-selling K-pop album in Hanteo history

The solo album GOLDEN by Jeon Jungkook became the first in K-pop history to sell more than 3.2 million copies on Hanteo on January 1, 2025. The record by BTS' Jungkook became Hanteo's best-selling K-pop album of all time. The Standing Next to You vocalist broke Kim Gun-mo's record for Wrongful Meeting, which had stood for 30 years.

As reported on December 31, 2024, BTS' Jungkook's GOLDEN vinyl became the best-selling vinyl of all time in three major regions. Among these three major marketplaces are Japan, South Korea, and the United States. On November 8, 2024, the GOLDEN vinyl was officially released for purchase in South Korea. Later, its sales began in Japan and the US.


Currently, Jungkook is performing his military duties following his enlistment in December 2023. He is expected to reunite with the group in June 2025 after the completion of his service.
