SHINee Taemin's agency, BPM Entertainment, faced backlash for mismanaging the idol's social media account. On January 14, 2025, fans noticed an unrelated activity on the idol's multiple accounts. A post from another account (@kmusicalawards) was shared via his profile, congratulating an entity that had no connection to him.
The caption also included an incorrect date, further frustrating fans. This error left many questioning how the company could allow such a mistake on an official account, sparking outrage over their apparent negligence.
Taemin of SHINee faces potential social media hacking again
The Korean Musical Awards, a prominent non-profit organization honoring excellence in various arts, recently found itself linked to an incident involving SHINee’s Taemin and his management company, BPM Entertainment.
On January 14, 2025, fans noticed a peculiar post shared on the idol's official Instagram account. The post congratulated the winner of the art category at the awards but was unrelated to the idol. Adding to the confusion, the caption read:
“January 13, 2024 Actor’s Instagram Story..Congrats! So proud!”
The inaccuracies in the content, including the irrelevant subject and the incorrect year, infuriated fans, who questioned BPM Entertainment’s professionalism in managing his official accounts.
The same post was also shared on Taemin's X (formerly Twitter) account, raising concerns about a potential hacking incident. Although the posts have since been deleted, fans have not held back their frustration with the agency's apparent mishandling of such an oversight.
Responding to the backlash, BPM Entertainment released a statement within hours:
“The content recently posted on social media contains clear false information. We will respond firmly to the spread of these false claims. We are committed to ensuring that he receives fair treatment and can continue his career with our full support.”
However, this is not the first time Taemin has faced such issues. In December 2024, BPM disclosed another instance of suspicious activity, this time targeting his official YouTube channel.
According to the company, the hacking was detected around 3 AM on December 15. BPM acted quickly, implementing recovery measures and reporting the breach to YouTube.
Despite their efforts, YouTube later informed BPM that the channel had violated community guidelines and would be permanently removed. By December 16, Taemin’s YouTube channel was officially taken down, leaving fans disappointed. BPM apologized for the inconvenience caused and assured fans that they were working diligently with YouTube to restore the channel as soon as possible.
These repeated incidents have led fans to demand greater accountability and improved security measures from BPM Entertainment. Many believe that the agency must prioritize better management and tighter security for their artists’ official accounts to prevent further mishaps.
