BTS Jin's upcoming album Happy Tracklist Preview is gaining attention online for allegedly having several tracks with less than a 3-minute time limit. The eldest member of BTS, Jin is gearing up for the release of his upcoming solo album Happy’s release on November 15, 2024.
On November 1, BIGHIT MUSIC unveiled the album tracklist preview on Spotify allowing the fans and listeners to pre-save the album on the music service platform. However, according to the tracklist preview shared by the agency, the timing of the songs has sparked a debate among fans.
Many music listeners who prefer listening to songs with longer duration have expressed their disappointment as the tracks on Jin's album are allegedly less than 3 minutes.
Since many artists and musicians have been releasing short songs that trend on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, netizens were concerned if this would become a trend for K-pop songs as well. Fans have shared their thoughts and opinions on Reddit.
“I'm mad why aren't any of them atleast 3 minutes long? I hate this stupid trend, bring back 3-4 minute songs!!! I'll still give the album a listen tho,” one fan said.
“With these shorter songs, they often feel incomplete and the trend of not including a bridge or proper outro makes me so sad. I hope that this is not the case with Jin's album,” another fan said.
“This is such a short album! I know everyone is saying the same thing but a full playthrough being about 16 minutes (my rough 7am math)… it’s not even going to get me to work in the morning!” another fan commented.
Netizens echoed similar sentiments about the alleged time limit of the songs on Happy.
“The Tiktokification of music is one of the worst things that has happened, I HATE IT,” one fan said.
“Short songs is absolutely criminal but once again I love how al the titles read like a verse,” another X user wrote.
“That is crazy that only one song is just over 3 minutes. I’m not liking this trend these days,” another user said.
Meanwhile, some fans expressed their excitement to hear the songs on Jin's upcoming album.
“I’m excited for this one! I loved I’ll Be There and I’m especially excited for the final two tracks based on Wendy and vibes,” one fan commented.
“I've never been a fan of 2 minute++ songs, so I'm hoping Running Wild is the best 2.5 minutes of my week!” another fan commented.
“honestly, as long as the song sounds like a complete song i don't care how long it is. for example, v's fri(end)s and jhope's future, those are complete songs and also short,” another fan said.
