On October 25, 2024, the Korean publication Yonhap News reported that Shin Hae-chul will be remembered by j-hope in a video message that will be exclusively shown at commemorative concerts for the late singer and songwriter. These concerts will be held for two consecutive days to honor the late singer’s tenth death anniversary.

According to reports, after being discharged from the military, j-hope filmed a video message and delivered it to the team behind the show. The video message will be released during the memorial concert 'Devil's 10th Ghost Stage,' at Inspire Arena in Yeongjongdo, Incheon, on October 26 and 27.

In this video, BTS' j-hope reportedly underlined that Shin Hae-chul inspired many singers, including him. Besides BTS' j-hope, many other K-pop artists will come together to give a tribute to Shin Hae-chul.

This includes N.EX.T (w. Koh Yoo-Jin, Kim Dong-Wan, Hong Kyung-Min), PSY, NELL, Kim Bum-Soo, Yesung, MAMAMOO’s Solar, HarryBigButton, Lee Seung-hwan, Jeon In-Kwon Band, Guckkasten, Epitone Project, and Xdinary Heroes.


More about the late K-pop star Shin Hae-chul

Shin Hae-chul was a South Korean singer-songwriter and the lead vocalist of the rock ensemble N.EX.T. He was an album composer recognized as an innovator of Korean experimental rock music. Admirers referred to him as the "Demon Lord" or "The Devil" owing to his dynamic stage appearance.

Shin Hae-chul and his musical group Muhangwedo made their inaugural appearance in the 1988 MBC Campus Music Festival, securing first place with their track "To You." He established the experimental rock group N.EX.T in 1992.

He was additionally recognized for conducting a radio program from 2001 to 2012. On October 27, 2014, Shin passed away. Reportedly, he succumbed to medical malpractice following surgical intervention.


BTS' j-hope was discharged from the military service on October 17

On October 17, 2024, BTS member j-hope formally concluded his 18-month military duty. After joining in April 2023, the Hope World vocalist completed his mandatory military service and took the opportunity to convey his gratitude.

He hailed those who supported him, people in general, and the reporters who had come to report the event. In a brief interview with the media, j-hope expressed his gratitude.

"I have to say a word of thanks. Firstly, thank you so much. I was discharged from the military in good health. Thank you really. I want to thank all the reporters who came this long way. And I was able to finish the service well and in good health thank to the fans"

j-hope, aka Hobi, is the second member of the septet to fulfill his military obligations, following Kim Seokjin. The eldest member of BTS, Jin, was the first to complete his military term in June this year.


The other five members of the boy band, Taehyung, Jimin, Namjoon, SUGA, and Jungkook, are still enlisted in the military and are anticipated to reunite in the second half of 2025.
