BTS' Jimin has won the International Male Artist of the Year award at the France Pure Charts Awards. On December 9, 2024, Pure Charts Awards announced the winner of its third edition of the award ceremony. Besides Jimin, other awardees included Taylor Swift, Helena, Coldplay, Billie Eilish, and more.
The BTS vocalist has been serving in the military since December 12, 2023. While fulfilling his national duties, he dropped his second full album, MUSE, with the title track, Who, on July 19, 2024.
In the International Male Artist of the Year category, he beat renowned artists like Benson Boone, Teddy Swims, The Weeknd, and Kendrick Lamar. Jimin is the only K-pop artist to have won an award at the France Pure Charts Awards third edition.
BTS' Jimin's achievements in 2024: MTV EMAs, Mnet Asian Music Awards, and more
On November 11, 2024, Jimin grabbed his first EMA in the Best K-pop category for his latest music release, Who, at the MTV European Music Awards held in Manchester, United Kingdom. This category, introduced in 2021, was previously awarded to him as a member of BTS. Additionally, he is the second member of his group to win in this category.
On November 22, 2024, the FACE singer received the Daesang accolade of VISA Fans' Choice of the Year at the 2024 Mnet Asian Music Awards. He is the first K-pop solo artist to receive a Daesang, the highest level of recognition given to an artist at a Korean Award show.
The same day, Jimin took to Weverse to express his feelings and emotions after winning his first-ever Daesang.
“ARMYs, I've come to find you all because i've heard some really thankful news. Receiving a daesang when I'm in the military… How have you sent me a present like this? I am so deeply moved and touched," he said.
He also shared some updates from his military journey and discussed his plans with his fellow bandmate Jungkook.
I've actually been talking a lot with Jungkook these days. about what kind of songs we should sing and what performances we should show you all after discharge. Already spending our time jumping the gun and being excited. Receiving an award this big in the midst of this leaves me even more stunned,” Jimin remarked.
Jimin further expressed his gratitude towards his fans, promising to show them a better side of him.
“If a day comes when I can repay you all, showing you the greatest performance would be the biggest present, right? it goes without saying but I'll grow even more and show you all an even better side of me so please look forward to it a lot. I love you, ARMY,” he added.
In addition, the album MUSE received appreciation from listeners as the titular tune Who accumulated over 1.1 billion streams on Spotify. Another B-side track, Closer Than This, surpassed 200 million streams, while Be Mine and Smeraldo Garden Marching Band crossed over 150 million plays on the music service platform.
Notably, the BTS vocalist's song Who also emerged as the most streamed song by an Asian act on the official Spotify Wrapped yearly statistics. Meanwhile, Jimin is expected to be discharged from his military duties in 2025 alongside Jungkook.
