BTS' Jimin is not only making strides in his professional career but also inspiring acts of kindness. On July 12, various Korean media outlets reported that Jimin's consistent donations to the Gyeongnam Future Education Foundation have encouraged several other donors to contribute.
The latest benefactor is Kim Sam-dal, a 61-year-old resident of Pohang, Gyeongbuk, who expressed a desire to support children due to her own challenging childhood. According to the Gyeongsangnam-do Future Education Foundation (Chairman Park Jong-hoon), the influx of donations has significantly increased since Jimin's contribution in May 2024.
Jimin made 100 million KRW donation to the Gyeongnam Future Foundation on May 30
On May 30, 2024, the BTS member donated 100 million Korean won to the Gyeongnam Future Education Foundation/Gyeongnam Office of Education to alleviate the conditions of students from low-income backgrounds. This donation was personally made by his father, Park Hyun-soo, who handed over the check to the foundation’s chairman.
This was not the first time the idol has donated to this foundation. He has been consistently contributing, whether knowingly or unknowingly, to educational causes for a long time. His efforts aim to improve the financial conditions of many families by providing adequate education for their children.
Recently, a notable donation prompted the chairman to credit Jimin for inspiring a trail of donations. Chairman Park Jong-hoon revealed that Kim Sam-dal has been donating 2 million won annually since 2017 to the Pohang Forum and 1 million won annually to the Jae Daegu Anui Elementary, Middle, and High School Scholarship Foundation.
Last year, she began donating 6 million won annually to support one student at Yeungnam University until graduation. This year, she donated 10 million won to the Yeungnam University development fund.
Kim graduated from Anui Elementary and Middle School in Hamyang, Gyeongnam, but had to drop out of Geochang Girls’ High School due to financial difficulties.
Her personal experiences have motivated her to contribute to scholarship programs for children in need, making significant donations to various organizations, including the Jae Daegu Anui Elementary, Middle, and High School Scholarship Foundation.
Kim expressed her hopes, saying:
"Reflecting on the difficulties of my childhood, I support all students who strive without losing their dreams. I hope this donation provides them with some strength."
She has also contributed to the “I Love Children Savings Account Project,” an initiative by the Gyeongsangnam-do Future Education Foundation aimed at helping children from low-income families prepare for university admission and social integration. It selects first-year high school students and provides their families with 60,000 won monthly for three years.
K-pop fans are sure that Jimin will keep making donations towards this trust in the future as well.
