BTS Jimin's Smeraldo Garden Marching Band (feat. LOCO) maintains its streaks of achievements
Billboard reported that the track was inspired by the 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles. The album won four Grammy awards in 1968 and spent 15 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Top LPs chart in the United States.
During his Vogue interview last year, Jimin mentioned how the British band had inspired him as a musician. He was also seen visiting a record store in New York City ahead of his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to buy a few vinyl records of The Beatles' albums.
Meanwhile, in Smeraldo Garden Marching Band (feat. LOCO), the BTS idol loosely gave an ode to The Beatles by recreating psychedelic imagery set for the official video and infusing marching band beat drops in his song.
The song shot to #1 on the US iTunes chart on its debut day in 3 hours, 55 minutes—making it the fastest song to reach No. 1 in 2024. Additionally, the song topped the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart and the European iTunes Song Chart across 111 countries as of June 29, 2024.
Furthermore, in the behind-the-scenes video of Smeraldo Garden Marching Band released on BANGTANTV (YouTube), the BTS lead vocalist shared that it was the first song he worked on for MUSE. Jimin added that he wanted to capture and share the happy and hopeful times when he visited New York with his fans.
