With his recent song WHO, BTS' Jimin has created history as the fastest song to rank No. 1 on the iTunes Worldwide Song Chart in 119 countries. On July 19, Jimin made his musical comeback with the album MUSE and the title track WHO. The song took five days, ten hours, and twenty minutes to reach #1 in 119 countries on iTunes.
Previously, BTS' Jimin made a record as the first and only artist in the world to have five tracks achieving All-Kill. He has now extended his record by adding another song, WHO. The six solo songs by Jimin that achieved perfect "All-Kill" are Our Blues OST With You with Ha Sung-woon, Like Crazy, Closer Than This, and Filter. The remaining two songs include Smeraldo Garden Marching Band featuring South Korean rapper Loco and WHO from the recent album.
Notably, Filter recently achieved All-Kill on July 14, 2024, and was the solo song by Jimin released under the BTS' album MAP OF THE SOUL: 7. Given that Filter reached #1 in 119 countries, the septet is now the first to achieve this milestone.
BTS' Jimin's latest song, WHO, tops Spotify & the official charts, creating new records
On Friday, July 19, 2024, BTS' Jimin dropped his highly anticipated album, MUSE, with seven tracks, of which six, besides the title track WHO, are co-written by him. The six tracks are Rebirth, Interlude: Showtime, Smeraldo Garden Marching Band with Loco, Slow Dance featuring Sofia Carson, Be Mine, and Closer Than This.
On July 24, WHO amassed over 26 million streams on Spotify, eventually leading it to top the Spotify Global Daily Top Songs chart. This achievement is notable as the BTS vocalist is the first and only Korean artist to reach this feat in 2024.
On the day of the release, WHO received 9.9 million streams. With this, he has now joined his group BTS and his fellow bandmate Jungkook to record the biggest opening day for a song. Besides this, on July 22, WHO dictated the first spot on the 'Official Big Top 40' global chart, considered as one of the prominent music charts in the United Kingdom.
BTS' Jimin is the first solo Asian artist to achieve this in ten years. PSY was the first solo Asian act to do so with his popular song Gangnam Style. He has joined BTS (for Butter) and PSY as the only K-pop artists to rank No. 1 on the 'Official Big Top 40' global chart.
In other news, on July 22, BIGHIT MUSIC started the Smeraldo Garden Pop-up store in celebration of the release of MUSE at 24 Gwangpyeong-ro 34-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The pop-up store visitors shared their experiences on social media. They received a handwritten letter from BTS' Jimin, which stated,
"To my MUSE, ARMY, I prepared songs that I want to play/sing to ARMY everyone, whom I always miss and miss. I don't know if it'll suit your taste, but since I've worked hard to prepare it, I'd appreciate it if you look at it prettily/I'd appreciate it if you could enjoy it."
