On November 1, 2024, BTS' Jimin made history with his single, WHO, which became the longest-charting song by a K-pop and Korean soloist on the UK Official Streaming and the Audio Streaming charts. He also became the first Asian act to achieve this feat in the last decade of the charts' history.

WHO was released as the title track of his second solo album, MUSE, on July 19, 2024. Jon Bellion, Pdogg, GHSTLOOP, and the BTS vocalist co-wrote the song. The song also opened at No. 1 on the Daily Top Songs Global chart on Spotify for four days in a row in July 2024.

Furthermore, the song debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 after achieving 90.5 million streams and 129,000 sales globally. Simultaneously, the track also topped the Billboard Global (Excl. US) chart with 76 million streams and 76,000 purchases in non-US markets.

BTS' Jimin's MUSE earns double Platinum certifications from KMCA and a RIAJ Gold

Meanwhile, Jimin's second solo album, MUSE, earned a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for selling over 100,000 physical album units in August 2024.

The album also earned two Platinum certifications from the Circle Chart aka Gaon Music Chart (KMCA) for selling over 500,000 album units in September 2024.

Additionally, WHO topped the Spotify Daily Top Songs chart in 16 countries including Singapore, South Korea, and Bulgaria. Additionally, the song also peaked at No. 1 across 112 countries including the United States, Germany, France, and Canada.

Simultaneously, MUSE topped the UK iTunes Album chart along with 86 other nations including Australia, Austria, Malaysia, Canada, the United States, Sweden, and Bahrain.

Moreover, the album was pre-recorded by the BTS member before he enlisted in the military to fulfill his mandatory service. The singer-songwriter worked on his debut solo album, FACE (2023), and second set, MUSE (2024), simultaneously. HYBE music producer Pdogg, real name Kang Hyo-won, worked alongside the BTS idol to create the albums.

Pdogg and GHSTLOOP revealed in a Weverse interview in August 2024, that Jimin traveled to the US to work on the track, WHO, with Grammy-nominated songwriter Jon Bellion. GHSTLOOP said:

"We made FACE and MUSE pretty much simultaneously."
"But while we were making them, FACE felt really dark, and the mood behind the MUSE tracks didn’t fit, so we split them into two different albums. Actually, if Jimin hadn’t played around on the KARMA synthesizer, there may never have even been “Rebirth,” and then there wouldn’t be that whole buildup at all," Pdogg added.

Here is the full tracklist of MUSE:

  • Rebirth (Intro)
  • Interlude: Showtime
  • Smeraldo Garden Marching Band (feat. Loco)
  • Slow Dance (feat. Sofia Carson)
  • Be Mine
  • WHO
  • Closer Than This

In other news, BTS members Jimin, Namjoon, Taehyung, Jungkook, and Suga will return from the military in June 2025.
