On June 12, 2024, BTS' Jin bid farewell to his fellow soldiers as he is now discharged from the Fifth Division Recruit Training Center in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi-do, at around 9 am KST, leaving the guard post and met the six members of the group who were waiting for him. The singer also shared about receiving a personal note from one of his close executives upon discharge.

Soon, multiple videos and photos from the training center went viral on social media. The videos show Jin requesting one of his fellow soldiers not to cry as he was departing and holding his hands. As the soldiers surrounding the idol started sobbing, he was worried about them and urged them not to cry and, subsequently, hugged them to uplift their spirits.

BTS' Jin greeted his successor's soldiers

According to the South Korean media outlet Major News, Jin served as an assistant drill instructor at the recruit training center and set an exemplary example as a military officer. As the idol was about to be discharged, he arrived at the guard post to greet successor soldiers, one by one. He greeted and comforted them by hugging them warmly.

The video showcasing Jin hugging successor soldiers circulated like wildfire on social media, where ARMYs gushed over the singer's behavior towards his fellow soldier. They stated he was an amazing Hyung (older brother) and role model for all the successor soldiers and showered praises about how he could pleasantly affect people's lives.

As the BTS member departed from the training center, he arrived at the HYBE building, where he took to the South Korean social media platform Weverse to start a live broadcast without even changing his military uniform.

During the interaction with the fandom, the idol disclosed about receiving a rolling paper from an executive who asked him to read it at home. However, the singer stated he was shy, but he would read in front of his fans. Jin mentioned, as translated by X user @nightstar1201:

"A close executive made me rolling paper. I was popular in the military! They told me to go home and read it instead of reading it in the unit! I'll read a few here! I'm a bit shy, but I got it from my battalion commander."

The rolling paper reads, "Sergeant Jin, Light, and Salt of the 11th Company! Living together, I have unforgettable memories. I will wait to watch you on TV!"

In response, the idol stated that the battalion commander should watch him on YouTube since he rarely appeared on television. He also shared how his senior promised he would not cry at his departure, but broke his promise and continued crying. Jin also stated that he cried because of them and shared a story.

"Mad hu-im (mate senior), Yes, yes, He promised not to cry, but he kept crying! They won't see this because it's work hours, but you have to know this. I cry because of you."

BTS member also disclosed how his friends were letting him depart from the service, but they were crying consistently and broke down twice.

"My friends were letting me go, but they were sobbing. I couldn't help but cry. Speaking of my own, I was good in the military! Soldiers call them warriors. On top of that, the positions are called lieutenant officers. I did a great job of creating an atmosphere where I was by bringing them together between warriors and officers. So we all cried when we broke up. We cried twice."

The idol also shared how he got multiple accolades during his mandatory conscription. The idol received the Army Soldier Award, two division commander-level awards, and seven battalion commander-level awards.

Jin will attend an in-person FESTA event on June 13, 2024, at Jamsil Arena in Jamsil Sports Complex, Songpa-gu, Seoul, South Korea. The event will comprise two sessions where he will give light hugs to the fandom and deliver performances.
