On August 27, 2024, BTS' Kim Seok-jin made waves as he ranked #2 on the TV-OTT Non-Drama Performer on the Good Data FUNdex Topicality Ranking. He ranked No. 2 for the fourth week of August 2024 after the South Korean ballad and trot singer Lim Young-woong—who featured on the variety show Gathering Up 3—ranked No. 1.

For the unversed, online search results are ranked according to their relevance to the original query words using a technique called topicality ranking. Additionally, topicality ratings can show how well a post's content corresponds to a popular topic or search query. For instance, a post of Jin's Harper's BAZAAR interview that made headlines may be deemed current and given a topicality score.

BTS' Jin ranked No. 2 after his latest variety show, Half-Star Hotel in Lost Island, episode 16, scored the highest on the topicality rating. Episodes 15 and 16 were aired on August 19 and 26, respectively, and featured the BTS singer as a special guest.

BTS' Jin dives into the sea in bad weather so that the cast can prepare food

Half-Star Hotel in Lost Island episodes 15 and 16 showed the BTS singer-songwriter picking up from where the previous episode left. He went fishing with the rest of the cast members, including celebrity chef Lee Yeon-bok and B1A4's Lee Jung-hwan, aka Sandeul.

They took a ferry through the sea to reach a spot where they could find fish and abalone. The BTS sensation was seen wearing a black diving suit as he sang on the ferry along with Sandeul and entertained everyone. Even in bad weather and rain, the BTS singer and Sandeul dived into the sea to catch fish so the cast could prepare food.

In episode 16, the BTS singer went to dig out shells from the seashore for their second-day meal prep and finds crabs. He let the crab go since it was the "prohibited fishing season."

Jin hilariously bid the crab adieu and asked it to live well and meet after 10 years. Both episodes showed Jin's determination to help his team despite bad weather. It also highlighted his exceptional cooking skills.

For the uninitiated, Half-Star Hotel in Lost Island is a Korean variety show by MBC where the cast renovates an abandoned house into a restaurant. They gather food items, cook from scratch, and invite locals to taste the food they prepared.

Half-Star Hotel in Lost Island episodes 15 and 16 are available on YouTube and on the Korean OTT platform, Wavve.
