BTS' Jin's involvement as South Korea's torchbearer at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics has created a buzz online since its announcement. On July 9, SportsW reported that Wootteo, a character from his single album The Astronaut, will also be featured in the international sports event.

Wootteo, developed as Jin's mini astronaut friend, will represent Korea and promote K-content on a global stage. HYBE plans to showcase a large Wootteo doll at Korea House, a public venue offering Korean-themed experiences, for a certification photo event.

The news has excited fans, who fondly remember the character as a source of hope during Jin's military enlistment. The Wootteo doll will commemorate Jin's The Astronaut.

HYBE will also make video content available to the 'Republic of Korea Promotion Hall,' created by the Korea Tourism Organization at the Korea House. This includes music videos and official content from the company's artists.

Original merchandise and cheering sticks will be available, and HYBE is planning to create a "cheer slogan" for the Korea Sports Council as official merchandise for Team Korea.

The 2024 Paris Summer Olympics spotlight K-content and introduce cheering sticks for the first time

The 2024 Paris Summer Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. This year's theme, 'Play the K,' highlights Korean culture, including food, sports, art, tours of Korea, and K-pop, extending the primarily sports-based spotlight to the vast culture and art realms of the country.

In a significant development, the Olympics will feature light sticks for the first time, a nod to K-pop's tradition of using cheering sticks to energize performances. HYBE has revealed an exclusively made 'Team Korea Cheering Stick' to support the South Korean national team taking part in the Olympics through the Korea Sports Council (Chairman Lee Ki-heung).

In March 2024, HYBE signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Sports Council to promote both local and global cheering culture and K-culture during the Olympics. As included in the agreement, HYBE will supply approximately 5,000 cheering sticks made using its unique technology.

Further exciting fans, there will be team-ups with HYBE artists on cheering content to amp up the excitement during the event. For the same, SEVENTEEN's unit group BSS will present their energetic song Fighting.

Designed, developed, and manufactured by HYBE, the light sticks come in two variations: the TEAM KOREA OFFICIAL LIGHT STICK for general use and the TEAM KOREA OFFICIAL DIGITAL FLAG for athletes.

Both designs are inspired by the Olympic torch and stadium. The light sticks feature a circular light display for the audience, while the athlete version comes with the South Korean national flag, Taegeukgi, to differentiate it.

On July 27, Korea House will host group cheering events for athletes' families and distinguished guests from various countries.

In other news, BTS' Jin, who was discharged from the military on June 12, is currently involved in shooting variety shows and has hinted at new music releases through Weverse interactions. He will soon be seen in MBC's The Half-Star Hotel in Lost Island.
