On October 5, 2024, the X account @ThePopCore reported that BTS' Jin's debut solo single, The Astronaut, has sold over six million units globally, including 800 million on-demand streams and 1.39 million single sales. According to the account, the units were estimated using a tiered formula, where one single sale, 125 premium streams, and 375 ad-supported (free) streams were counted as one unit.

As per the current industry standard, the data for the mentioned estimates of the track were collected from audio and listening platforms, including Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, iTunes, Melon, Genie, Line Music, Jiosaavn, Anghami, Tencent Music, NetEase and other sources.

The Astronaut was released on October 28, 2022, through BigHit Music. It was co-penned by Jin, British rock group Coldplay, DJ Kygo from Norway, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion, Chris Martin, Kyrre Gorvell-Dahll, Joan La Barbara, Johann Johannsson, and Moses Martin. It was produced by Kygo and Bill Rahko. The track was described as a gift to BTS' Jin's fans ahead of his mandatory military enlistment.

Following the release of The Astronaut, the single sold over 700,000 physical copies, as per Hanteo charts. It earned the highest first-day sales for a single by a K-soloist in the history of Hanteo. Subsequently, the physical single debuted at the number position on the week 44 issue of the Circle Album Chart between October 23-29, 2022.

The track continued to dominate its position in other countries, ranking at number four on the Oricon Daily Digital Singles chart. It charted at number two the following day with over 3000 downloads. With the track, the male artist earned his first solo entry on the United States Billboard Hot 100, which debuted at 51 on the chart dated November 22, 2022, and recorded 4.9 million domestic streams and 44,000 downloads in the first tracking week.

In recent news, BTS' Jin was announced as the global ambassador for the Italian luxury fashion house Guccijin by the creative director Sabato De Sarno on August 8, 2024, through an Instagram post. The director welcomed Jin as the newest addition to the Gucci family with the following words:

"I am very excited to welcome Jin as Global Brand Ambassador. His warm and kind personality is truly magnetic, and his style is simply unique. He is a generous and extraordinary artist who is able to move people with his music, which makes us even more honored to share this journey with him."

BTS' Jin was appointed the first male global ambassador for the South Korean cosmetics brand, Laneige. He will feature in a campaign for the brand's bestselling Cream Skin 2-in-1 moisturizer and toner.
