BTS' Jin's military discharge dated as one of the major upcoming events in South Korea, making him the first idol to get a mention

BTS’ Jin is set to return after completing his military service on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. The date has been mentioned as one of the major upcoming events this week, as listed by South Korean media agency Yonhap News. Notably, he is the first K-pop idol to have listed his military discharge date as one of the major events in the country.

On June 10, Yonhap News announced the list of events. Besides the announcement of Jin’s military conscription conclusion on June 12, events like South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol reportedly visiting three Central Asian countries from June 10 to 15, and the third meeting of the South Korea-U.S. Nuclear Consultative Group in Seoul on June 10 were also mentioned.

Notably, on June 11, BIGHIT MUSIC released an official statement. They expressed their gratitude for the fans who have showcased their unwavering love and support for the artist. However, there would be no separate event held on this day.

The agency said,

“Please note that the discharge day is reserved for military personnel only. No special events are planned on the day of Jin’s discharge. To prevent any issues arising from overcrowding, fans are strongly advised to refrain from visiting the site. Please convey your warm regards and encouragement in your hearts.”

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon congratulates BTS’ Jin on the conclusion of his military service

Jin's discharge from the military service is gaining attention not only from fans and netizens but also from South Korean officials like Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon. On Tuesday, June 11, Oh Se-hoon took to his Facebook page to congratulate the eldest member of the septet, as he is set to be discharged on June 12, 2024.

The mayor expressed his happiness at The Astronaut’s return while also praising the K-pop group for sincerely fulfilling their national duties in the army. Furthermore, he spoke about the time when BTS was named the honorary tourist ambassador of Seoul City.

Oh Se-hoon stated,

“Many people, including me, will applaud the fact that all seven members are setting an example by enlisting on active duty without foul play or privileges.”

According to Yonhap News, the Seoul Mayor listed some of the popular BTS songs known for their meaningful and heart-touching lyrics, like Boy With Luv in collaboration with Halsey and Life Goes On. He also mentioned the album Love Yourself, with songs like DNA, Fake Love, and more. He also revealed listening to Dynamite on this day due to the bright and energetic atmosphere.

He stated,

“I look forward to seeing you spread meaningful messages again as artists beyond musicians.”

Jin to attend BTS FESTA 2024

On June 13, 2024, the K-pop group BTS will mark their 11th anniversary. While Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are currently serving in the military, Jin will meet the ARMY during the 2024 FESTA through two different events. The 2024 FESTA is scheduled to be held at Jamsil Sports Complex Field.

The first event will be a meet-and-greet when the Astronaut singer will welcome fans with light hugs and handshakes. 1000 lucky fans will attend the first session at 3 p.m. KST. Meanwhile, the second event, “Message from Jin: June 13, 2024,” will commence at 8 p.m. KST and will be live-streamed on Weverse for membership holders.
