More about BTS' Jungkook's unprecedented success as a solo artist
On the 2022 US Billboard Hot 100, Charlie Puth's song Left and Right, featuring Jungkook, peaked at No. 22. The BTS idol then released Dreamers later that year, making him the first South Korean artist to record the FIFA World Cup Official Anthem soundtrack.
On July 14, 2023, he dropped his first solo song SEVEN with Latto, which claimed No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. His song became the quickest single in history to achieve 1 billion plays on Spotify. It also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 and the Global Excl. U.S. charts, making him the first Korean solo artist to accomplish this feat.
He was dubbed the biggest K-Pop artist in America after securing the top spot on the first-ever Billboard K-Pop Artist 100 list. The BTS singer became the first K-pop male soloist to win the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, the 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards, and the 2023 Billboard Music Awards altogether.
Jungkook became the first South Korean solo artist to rack up two successive top-five entries on the UK Singles Chart with 3D (feat. Jack Harlow). The song was released on September 29, 2023, and entered at No. 5 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart.
Forbes Korea's 2024 Power Celebrity 40 listed BTS' Jungkook at No. 9. In addition, he was included in the Gold House 2024 A100 list, which named him as one of the "100 Asian Pacific leaders" who had the most influence on American society and culture.
