More about BTS' Jungkook's debut solo album, GOLDEN

BTS member Jeon Jungkook released his debut solo album, GOLDEN, on November 3, 2023. The all-English album consists of 11 tracks co-written and co-produced by Western heavyweights like Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, DJ Snake, Andrew Watts, Jon Bellion, Cirkut, and more.

On the day of its release, the album sold over two million copies on Hanteo, making him the first Korean soloist to achieve this feat in the chart's history. Eight out of the 11 tracks from the album ranked in the Top 10 on the US iTunes chart on its release, another feat by a Korean solo artist in iTunes' history.

Three of the album's tracks, SEVEN (feat. Latto), 3D (feat. Jack Harlow), and Standing Next To You, topped the Billboard Global 200 chart. He became the first Korean solo artist to top three songs from the same album at No.1 on the American music chart. He was also the first Asian act to chart 10 songs from the same album on the Billboard Global 200.

However, the tracks ranked at different times such as SEVEN (feat. Latto) in September, 3D (feat. Jack Harlow) in October, and Standing Next To You in November 2023. For the unversed, SEVEN (released in July 2023) and 3D (released in September 2023) are Jungkook's two pre-released singles, which were later added in GOLDEN.

Furthermore, SEVEN (feat. Latto) debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in July 2023 and maintained its top position for seven consecutive weeks. The K-pop idol became the first K-pop solo artist to earn this milestone in the Hot 100 chart's history.

In other news, BTS' Jungkook enlisted in the South Korean military on December 12, 2023, to fulfill his mandatory service. He will return in June 2025 to resume group activities.
